We have been to lots of penguin viewing places in South Africa and think this one tops the lot in terms of sheer numbers of African penguins, the ease of seeing them from the well-designed boardwalk and the beautiful backdrop. It is so reasonable -...More

Hundreds of penguins with a breath taking view on Betty's bay! The local restaurant is also very nice and cheap!

Instead of taking the quick way from CT to Hermanus, we always take the costal road. The pinguines at stony point are always worth a detour.

Great location to observe the African Pinguins. Compared to other locations closer to Cape Town, this place is not as crowded. We enjoyed the visit very much. Cost for adults is 25 ZAR. The observatory platform is closing at 4pm.

Nestled in Betty's Bay, the old whaling station is now a sanctuary for not only penguins but also birds. Not many tourists so we had the place to ourselves - perfect.

We visited in December 2019 and paid R25 per adult and R15 per child to enter. One could see quite a few penguins prior to reaching the pay point, but the experience was worth paying for. They did not have change when we opted to...More

A good place to see pengeinstitutter in SA if you have a car. Cheap entrance, but the place closes early (16 or 17:00). Check at HomePage. Best viewingvtime: as late as possible.

We visited Boulders Beach at the start of our holiday and Betty's each at the end. No comparison.. Betty's beach wins hands down. Much less crowded, more natural, much cheaper, 25 rand. You can even see penguins without paying. Much more natural and less commercial.

This is a wee gem, much better than Boulders Beach, lots of wildlife as well as the penguins, 4 types of cormorant, gulls, dassies, lizards, all well explained by the boards by the walkway. Worth way more than 25 rand. Highly recommended

Manageable but send them in batches to view the Penguins. Maybe 20 are a time to get the maximum viewing pleasure.

Hermanus' shore front is great anytime during the year with little shops, walkways along the cliffs. The whales are just an additional extra in season. The penguin colony is vibrant all year round and a definite worthwhile... More
