Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Luckily when we arrived the car park, the Mother Nature showed smiling face with full sunshine, though it was raining heavily on the way. Walked through the farmland and couldn’t wait to come to the southern most of the South Island. Amazed at the power of the wind which could make one feel like to be blown away. Could hardly stand still at the far end of the island. Spectacular view! Worth the trip, not only for the sign.

So this is further south than the Bluff signpost at Stirling Point and is a worthwhile drive from Invercargill. There's a good size car park and you then walk about 10 minutes on a track across fields to the actual point. Much smaller signpost here but nonetheless a great photo op, especially if you've been at Cape Reinga and want to complete the north to south points.

Apart from saying you have been to the southern most point of NZ, there is not mush to see here. The views are not as good as you can get on other locations.
You need to keep a close eye on children as there are not barriers guarding the edge of the steep cliffs. The walk to get there is across Farmland so is not that interesting.

This is the southernmost point of the South Island. It is accessed across farmland with a 10 minute walk. We visited an a very calm day, which by the shape of the trees here would appear to be very unusual! The views across the various bays from the point with the lighthouse are amazing with big swells crashing in against the rocks. Great to come here, tick this box and enjoy great scenery.

The last stop of a trip exploring this area. Really wanted to get a pic of the wind blown trees, which I did. Didn't get to the signpost as the weather put me off, plus I had my dog and dogs weren't allowed

Many people always think Bluff is the most south point visitable in South Island NZ which is inaccurate. There is another southernmost point where visitor can walk and visit this place, it is Slope Point. From the car park you need to walk approx. 20 minutes through private farm, and then you are really at the most southern point of South Island. South Sea in front of you, spectacular views unobstructed, steep rugged cliffs, very windy exposed place blown continuously by strong cold air from Antartic, and the AA marker tell you latitude and longitude of this point as well as the distances to Equator and South Pole, no ticket need, all are free.

another of those interesting geographical points. It is the southernmost point of the South Island. Beyond that the landscape is impressive. You have a walk to get to the milestone. We had a very windy and cold day but it was worth it. incredible photos. view of the cliffs.

A 20 min flat paddock walk will take you right to the edge. Great photo opportunity with the sign. Sensational views. Great that the road is now sealed!

Yes you walk through a pasture; cows were there to greet us, and it can be muddy. But you are at the most southern point, how cool is that! Bring a jacket as it was windy. Took the phots and enjoyed the view, so worth it. Would be great for sunset or sunrise photos.

I loved the walk through the field of sheep, birds to see, loved looking over the cliffs for signs of whales or dolphins (none😩). It is definitely worth the 10 minute easy walk to the point. If you are in the area you should tick it off. You can see the light house in the distance.

Sorry, probably too late for you, but if it is lambing season you won't be allowed onto the property.
