Visitors are invited to spend the day at Ampleforth and enjoy the facilities that we offer including a tea room with a fantastic selection of food and beverages, the Abbey gift shop which stocks everything from keyrings to our own cider and our state-of-the-art Visitor centre, providing a comprehensive insight into the history of Ampleforth. Admission to the Abbey and Grounds is free but we do welcome donations to support the work of the Abbey and the Benedictine Community.

Went here this week and it is so peaceful. The people were all very friendly, restaurant good and some nice walks for the dogs. The whole site is beautiful and well cared for. Highly recommended

A very interesting place to visit. I was taken to one side by a monk who offers me some wine at a knock off price.He also had a stash of local honey.Well worth the visit.

The abbey has got a wonderful history. The garden were wonderful. Visitor centre was good.The tour on a Thursday was fine.

Visited here over Easter. Such a tranquil place with stunning views. What a beautiful setting for contemplation. There are nature walks to keep the children interested and a mouse hunt. In fact, go into the tea rooms and the furniture all has a mouse carved...More

Was here April 7-11 for and it was a wonderful experience. A privilege to join the monks for mass and office. A lovely tour of the abbey with Fr Christopher. Thank you for your welcome, hospitality and inspiration.

We have called at this Restaurant twice for afternoon tea and found it to be not only the best value around, but a lovely selection of sandwiches and delicious cakes served by welcoming efficient staff. The Abbey and College is in the most spectacular setting....More

This is a really interesting , calm and historical place to visit. Visitors centre is informative and tea room is lovely. All free, donations are welcomed though.

Would recommend a visit if in the area. There is no cost and completely free. The volunteer in the visitor centre was extremely welcoming and able to answer any questions. The visitor centre is a real source of information about the site and the area....More
