I visited the Wetlands Complex to see the most famous part of it - the Wall of Tears at the end of the Complex. But I discovered that there were several other points of interest to this delightfully uncrowded park. The Wetlands consists of a main road with several spur trails, many of them very short. It's about 4 miles from Puerto Villamil to the Wall of Tears. Bicycle is a good way to get here, but it's a challenging short ride through sand and then steeply uphill on uneven roads. There were multiple giant tortoises traversing the road, too. The Wall itself is an interesting memorial and there is another steep climb to an overlook offering panoramic views of the Island. The stops along the way include a lava tunnel and a mangrove swamp leading to a "hidden" beach. There were very few people in the Wetlands to the extent that I could have had sections of the beach entirely to myself.

This easy walk through the wetlands to the beach is full of wildlife. Iguanas testing on the boardwalk are fun to step over, while the area teems with unusual birds, for those of us who fancy bird watching. There were only a few isolated flamingo sightings, but that was OK. The walk ends up at the beach. Totally worth it if visiting turtle breeding center.

We thought we were "just" headed to see the turtles and didn't know the beautiful walk we were about to take. Would have brought water if we had known but we were fine. We saw many beautiful flamingos and the yellow warbler and other bird species. The herons were gorgeous and out fishing the day we headed out there. We loved the baby turtles at the end.

Wander, walk, never hurry was my mantra on Isabela! The wetlands are one of the places to seek out wildlife. Predominantly iguanas with a few flamingos mixed in to keep it interesting. Best to walk it in the morning and return in the late afternoon. Between is usually too hot.

Very nice way to spend a walking day. See a few flamingos in the wetland ponds, walk to Tortuga Rehabilitation Project. Lots of different sizes of turtles to see, watch, talk to, film. Enjoyable, but not with a guide or waiting taxi. Don't rush, just breath, enjoy time with lovely creatures.

Walk way starts next to Iguana crossing hotel and leads to the tortoise breeding centre, all of which are free to enter. Along the timber walk way we were welcomed by iguanas sunbaking, then a little further down 3 flamingos out for breakfast and a lot of little ducks. After the wetlands the walkway leads you through mangroves filled with little friendly birds to you reach the tortoise breeding centre. There are so many tortoise here all at different stages of growth from a few months to many decades, really fun to watch them all. They have a couple of different species of tortoise here as well which is great to see the difference, I didn't realise each species has different shell shapes and leg lengths.

Very nice road without cars where had different "exits" that take you to lagoons, lava formations, beaches,lookouts... it is definetely a MUST do if you are in Isabella. The place to go if you want to rent a bike is Galapagos Bike& Surf There are other places , not sure if cheaper, but these guys are great & so their bikes. They have that gel inside that will almost prevent you from having a flat tire. Their children bike chairs are the best compared to the other places.

We enjoy walking so we tried this area. Easy walking (no inclines) and mainly marshland. We found it extremely warm and humid.

My wife and I toured these shallow mangrove-lined wetlands by Zodiac boat in February 2018. Our guide was excellent, and showed us many species - turtles, rays and many land and sea birds. We took 00's of photographs.
The place is completely unspoiled - you'll feel like you were the first people ever to visit. Highly recommended.
