Significant fires earlier in the year have caused extensive loss of cover but this really is extraordinary country with really great walks. There was surprisingly little wildlife around but the geology of the area is superb and fascinating.

So many gorges and interesting sops across the entire Macdonnell ranges. We took over a week to see most of it and there is still some to see when we return.

Along the MacDonnell Ranges a series of attractions are found. In one day we visited Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm (Angkerle Atwatye), Ellery Creek Big Hole, Ochre Pits, Ormiston Gorge, and Redbanks Gorge. And have a swim in one of them. Most have parking and toilets.
