Took a sesplane flight out to the Bungle Bungles with Kimberley Air Services on Friday May 21st. Great scenery and I enjoyed the trip: my partner, not so much. Reason: she was not supplied with headphones so got nothing of the inflight commentary.
When we landed on Lake Argyle for morning tea, we were told there was no milk so we would have to have black tea.
C'mon guys, when you are charging customers close on a thousand dollars for two for a 3 hour trip, you don't forget the milk!
Local tour operators need to pay attention to the details if they want to impress travellers who are accustomed to world-class service from years of travelling overseas.

Firstly its a 53k drive from the highway to the visitors center and then close to 20k each way for various scenics. The road is unmade, rough, with a number of tight bends and water crossing. We were told it should take 2 hours for the 53 km, it only took 1 hr 20 as the road had recently been graded.
We did various walks into the gorges and caves, each was fantastic, highly recommend the Cathedral Gorge

We went on a 2 hour scenic flight of the Bungle Bungle Range with Aviair. Our pilot, Alec, was fantastic and put us at ease. His knowledge of the area was great and very informative. The office staff were so friendly and helpful from the very beginning of booking the tour. The scenery was amazing and a great way to see Kununurra and the region. Highly recommend this scenic flight and a great way to cross off the Bungle Bungle ranges off your bucket list.

This is an awesome NP which has stunning walks that all look so different. The drive is quite corrugated with 5 creek crossing varying from 30-40 cm in height. We lowered our tyres before going in to make it easy. We did mostly every major walk and covered 25 km that day, so it can be done and was well worth it. The Cathedral in Piccaninny was a highlight as well as the Echidna Chasm. We lost our front number plate so check if it’s on tight before you go in!

We went here with our 3 young boys in October so I won't lie it was pretty hot, one of the cam grounds and the visitor centre was shut and it was quite hard work.
Despite this we ere honestly overwhelmed by this NP. The Bungles themselves are even more incredible than we were expecting. A to more extensive and lived up to the hype forsake... beyond that the different walks in the different sections were amazing... we managed most of them with our young boys - they lasted somewhere between 1 and 3 or so hours. Echidna chasm and Cathedral gorge in particular were spectacular.
We were there in the shoulder season (hence the heat and difficulty) so we almost literally had the place to ourselves, we had breakfast on our own in the middle of one of the most popular walks so I cannot speak to what it is like in high season (pretty hectic I'd imagine and possibly easier in terms of heat but a much worse experience overall)

What an amazing place this is! One can see why it is world heritage listed and was amazed to realise it was only really discovered in the mid 1970's.
The whole range area along with the many gorges and chasms is one of the highlights of any trip to the Kimberley region.
An overnight stay is a great way to see it all if you travel in by road - the 50 plus km trip took aver an hour and a half and I am led to believe the road becomes worse as the dry tourist season goes longer.
Would be a must do for any friends I was speaking to about travelling up here.

Breathtaking and, whilst flying over the Bungles was gorgeous, walking alongside them accompanied by First Nation guides giving us insights into their culture, beliefs and traditional use of plants was fascinating. Plenty of flying, giving us more than enough air time to appreciate the size and vastness of these impressive formations. A big day which offers great value for money. You will not be disappointed.

Don’t be put off by the 50 km trek on unmade road to get there. For a 4WD this is a piece of cake. It’s rough and windy in the middle 15 kms but just rough for the rest. My conclusion was to focus on Cathedral Gorge and Piccinninny Lookout walks in the south. The others require long walks in the heat along a river bed. We got as far as The Window but it wasn’t worth the 2km walk. we didn’t get to Whip Snake gorge, too hot, too far. The north is possibly the gem. Echidna Chasm especially. But also Blackwood which has a wonderful perspective on the rock walls late in the day. We didn’t try the longish walk between these but drove. May seems the perfect time to go. Still very green, not too crowded.

Travel to the Bungle Bungles and take in Cathedral Gorge, Echidna Chasm and Mini Palms with an overnight-er at Savannah Lodge and you won't be disappointed. Our guides Gabe and Chrissy were fun, smart, and oh so knowledgeable. They really care about delivering a great experience.
Savannah Lodge was comfortable and the food was great (buffet style) and the staff super friendly and accommodating.
Loved, loved, loved it!

Amazing place, it is just like on all these photos you see
Quiet unique landscape, on both major locations in the park, yet quiet different
As mentioned often, go early in the morning with lots of water
End august it really gets hot
They write a lot about the 53km of road leading into the park
It took us less than 2 hours and we found the road not the horror many people say it is
A must do in tje Kimberley

Hi, my husband and i are spending a few days in Kununurra in August 2016 and we are thinking of booking a tour including a flight to Bungle plus 4x4 drive and walk to visit Cathedral Gorge. Can anyone tell us if the walk is very hard ? Do you need to climb mountains or walk in rivers or anything like that?

I'm planning to drive from Darwin to Broome next April with my Sister who is coming over from the UK. I'd like to do an overnight in the park but will not have a 4WD to get there ourselves. What would be the best tour company to use?
Thanks
