Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As a Kimberley local I understand the majesty of this World Heritage listed site.
My second visit, this time with a tour group we tackled the southern section of the park first which is what I advise any travellers that I speak to in my role at the Broome Visitor Centre to do also. The reason being is that the Piccaninny Creek lookout walk & Cathedral Gorge walk & Domes walk are fairly exposed, not a lot of shade, so best to go early in the morning when it is cooler, wear a hat & sensible walking shoes & take plenty of drinking water. Fantastic photo opportunities abound on these walks.
We had a snack in the cool of Cathedral gorge as we absorbed the spiritual serenity of this enormous natural amphitheatre.
Lunch was eaten on the drive north to Echidna Chasm. The walk along the dry creek bed this time a totally different surface where more attention was needed to be safe on the rocky terrain. Once in the shade of the Livistona palms & the chasm itself it was a cool & reasonably easy walk into the centre. We rested in there before journeying to the end & back out again.
Information boards with maps, distances, shade, picnic tables & toilets are provided at each car park.
2 X National park camping areas are provided, one at each end of the park.

Hot as during the day so get out early with plenty of water . Do as many walks as you can but I’d say The Domes , Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny lookout as a minimum in the south. We loved Mini Palm Gorge walk and Echidna Chasm was magical!

A bucket list destination and not for the faint hearted ! The road in is the worst stretch of dirt I've ever bounced over but the trip is so worth it in the long run ! On out trip in we broke the Tour Bus an hour in & had to wait for a replacement on the side of the dusty road. The first section was Elephant Rock, the Dome Loop & Piccaninny Creek which was completely dry. It is amazing to think of the water volumes rushing through these places in the wet !!! You can tell from the water marks how much does flow ! And the only access at that time is via helicopter overflights ! The Park was only discovered by accident during the filming of an ABC Documentary but what a find, the Bungle Bungles are exquisite !

Purnululu National Park is not easy to get to, but certainly worth it. We went in our camper trailer- the road into the park is rough but fine as long as go slow. You have to be self sufficient. The park itself is well maintained with excellent basic facilities (toilets and water). There are a number of walks and plenty to do. We had 3 nights and 2 full days, and I felt that time was fine - although could have spent more. We were able to experience both north and south main sites - particularly loved Mini Palms Gorge, Echidna Gorge and the Picanninny Walk as far as the Elbow (that was pretty hot so best early morning. )

This was worth the drive. It takes 2 hours to drive 53 km to get to the Park. And then 2 hours back. We spent 2 hours walking which was great. The road leading to the Park is absolutely terrible and never attempt it without a 4 x4. Great experience but a once in a lifetime effort. Worth the drive.

Great park with an exciting 4WD road to it. I would recommend a 2day visit: One full day for the North and one for the South. This also allows you some time to see the sunrise/sunset. The people at the Visitor Centre can tell you exactly which places are recommended for this.

A must see in the Kimberley. You do need a fairly hardy 4x4 to get in as the roads are quite bumpy and there's a few creek crossings. But not something to deter you, we didn't struggle at all. The Bungle Bungles are a stunning sight. Go prepared with lots of water as it is very very hot at some times of the year! The campsite was well maintained and had a nice rural feel. The stars you could see! Wow!

The information centre is excellent - they will direct you to the best locations, along with WHEN to visit them (heat matters). The National Park is supreme .. stunning !!

This National Park, which is home to the Bungle Bungles is amazing. However, it also very large so make sure that you give yourself enough time in the park. Also try to do one the helicopter flights in the early morning to get the best view of the Bungles. Just do it!
