Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to the restaurant.
Homemade bread is Top-rated bread in the area.
The coffee is very good.
It has breakfast packages at a good price, which includes coffee, juice, a dish and coffee.
The view of the restaurant is very nice, perfect for a breakfast a few meters from the lagoon.

We have been to Nanciyaga a number of times in the past 5 years. Itis a good "jungle fix" with nothing unpleasant , in fact to the contrary, this is a modern well run jungle set resaurant with professional staff and beautiful setting. See the Scarlet Macqaws and maybe a monkey while there . Food is good, and they feature freshly made pastry... We good for brunch.

The boat tour from Catemaco to Nanciyaga was really the best part of it. And that is actually a separate thing. They DO tell you when you book the boat that Nanciyaga is an additional fee, so they aren't trying to pull a fast one on you. The boat landing and foliage on the walk are beautiful. The "guides" can be hit and miss. Our guide was not so great. We could see that a group ahead of us has a more animated one. I would best describe the experience as a walking, non-humorous version of Disney's Jungle Cruise. There is nothing authentic here. Everything is a copy of something from another part of Mexico. But they aren't pretending that anything is real. At one point, a "shaman" came out offering to sell some small talismans and potions for a small price. The live animals at the end of the hike were in enclosures that were not any improvements on anything that you would see at the San Diego Zoo. There was also a large black labrador that was following us along the whole time. We took it all good heartedly and kept referring to it as a panther. The person who was supposed to do the clay mask wasn't at their station, so no one got the clay treatment. We did drink the mineral water, which was a bit "floral." Don't want to seem negative as there was plenty of vegetation to take pretty jungle pictures with. The food from the open fired restaurant also smelled very good. I was just expecting something a bit more unique to the place. The walk took about 45 minutes. I am recommending 1 to 2 hours because I think if you DO choose to come here, you should probably eat here as well, as the choices in Catemaco aren't really superior.

I had read about this place being the disney of Eco Tourism, therefore it was on my list, so when given the opportunity to go as an extra to our boat trip, it was a yes. We were promised crocodiles, turtles and monkeys, living in the wild.
You cannot deny what they have done is beautiful, clever and all with the environment as the priority. However what it really is, is a walk round the 'island' through the trees, a beautiful walk, but with a guide showing you replicas of statues that are found in museums throughout Mexico, at the end you are taken to two cages to see a baby crocodile in a tank and a Iguana, the crocodiles are nowhere to be seen, let alone the turtles or monkeys. Oh and the guide is a volunteer, so of course you are obliged to pay her. Had they said in the beginning you are going to go on a nature trail, fine perfect, you wouldnt come away feeling sheer dissapointment.

I loved taking a day to travel to Catemaco and do this tour. The greens that you see in the jungle are unlike anything else I have seen. There are old statues everywhere (I think otemec) Overall I loved the experience.

They have done a great job in creating this piece of the jungle on Lake Catemaco into a recreation of the lost culture of this part of Mexico. They had replicas of Olmec artifacts around the different parts of the area. We enjoyed the boat ride along the lake and especially appreciated our guide, Fernando. Although he spoke only in Spanish, he enunciated it very well and we could understand him quite well. Really liked the mud facial and the patchouli infused water to rinse with and enjoyed the wonderful massage.
