Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lake Piva is simply amazing. The water is almost still and smooth as glass. Hidden among rocks and mountains .this lake beacons a ton passing by to come and enjoy it. It is a sight to behold. Simply a breathtaking lake and area. I highly reccomend to all visitors.

The highway north from Nikšić meets the Piva River after passing through 40km of verdant farmland. It then tangos with the river until they both reach the border at Šćepan Polje. The river was blocked in 1975 by the building of the 220m-high hydroelectric Mratinje Dam (Brana Mratinje), flooding part of the Piva Canyon (Кањон Пива) to create the tremendously turquoise Lake Piva (Pivsko Jezero), which plummets to depths of more than 180m.
The road alongside the river is a feat of engineering in itself, clinging to the cliffs and passing through 56 small tunnels carved out of the stone. The narrow but equally spectacular route through the mountains from Žabljak joins this road near Plužine, the Piva region's unofficial capital. Heading north from here the route gets even more dramatic, with the steep walls of the canyon reflecting in the toothpaste-blue waters below.

We stayed just out of Pluzine for 3nights and hiked to two top lakes above Piva Lake, swam in the lake and visited the canyon. The dam wall is well worth a visit from top and below. The tunnels, all 36 from Pluzine to dam wall and then another 16 to Bosnia border are also amazing. On our last day we did a boat trip on the lake, so quiet and no one else around. The lake is huge and water a beautiful turquoise colour.

Between the lovely view of the Piva lake and canyon, you have a very narrow road with unfinished tunnels that add to the charm. Next to one was a lovely picnic table with a sun roof. We were on a van coming back from rafting the Tara so could not stop. But if you are planning a stop, that would be an amazing view point. The lake is kind of low right now.

If you're in the area to see Durmitor and Tara this should go on your list as well. The lakes is beautful but the downstream gorge (and road) is amazing, as is the dam. This seriously would be a highlight attraction at most National Parks and it's just another gorge in Montenegro.

This is the most wonderful place i ever drove my motorcykle on, a little bit dangerous because of falling stones coming down from the mountain sides but well worth it and scenery is sometimes spectacularly.

Pluzine was a very quiet sleepy place when I was there in May, which for me was better. Amazing scenery especially alon the road and from the dam.

Piva was really wonderful river. Building of Mratinje dam, 220 metres high, made artificial Piva lake.

When we went to Zabljak everybody was talking about Tara canyon, Tara river... nobody told us about Piva! Hopefully we stayed there for a week so we decided to drive along the road from Zabljak to Pluzine (if you can don't miss it neither) to get to Piva canyon. I have to say that personally I prefer Piva to Tara canyon, however they are different, but the landscapes and the colour of the water at Piva lake are just amazing!
Don' miss it!

Bonjour, j'aimerais faire cette descente en rafting. Ou dois-je m'adresser ? Dois-je réserver? La durée est parait-il d'une 1/2 journée ou d'une journée. Merci

Is this Place worth visiting in around April 6? I heard the road is closed till may because not snow free?
We go from Zabljak to Cetinje. Is a night in Pluzine to be considered?
