Enjoyed walking around and seeing the sculptures. Everything was so precisely carved in those olden days.

- I've been to Doddagaddavalli, Belavadi, Halebeedu, Somnathapura, Hosahalu, and still have to visit a few more places, but among all of them, this is the best work of the Hoyasalas. - Needed three generations of Hoyasala kings (~100 years) to be completed. King Vishnuvardhana is the one who started the construction, and his grandson finished it. - Unlike other... More

This is the breath taking masterpiece of Hoysala architecture, the carvings are minute in details like in paintings. Many statues are highly ornated and I strongly recommend any person to visit this temple. Below are top most temples built by Hoysala rulers(from my opinion) 1. Chennakesava temple - Belur 2. Kesava temple - somnathpura 3. Hoysaleswara temple - Halebidu 4.... More

Awesome architecture and make sure that you hire a guide there (it costs 300 for 4 people) so that you get all those minute details.

Chennakeshava means Smart Vishnu. A unique pilar made by one stone stand on a surface but it's all lower portion not on ground touch and still there after several earthquake. The most precession carvings, unbelievable sculptures. Destroyed by Khilji emporors in olden days.Must see and feel the olden decades.
