- Jessica TParker, Colorado2 contributionsAmazing tour! Will was amazing! We did the rum tasting experience for $75 each. It was a 75 minute tour and it flew by! Definitely worth the price. Will was our tour guide and he was incredible! He was so informative and also a bit of a comedian. We got to try 5 different rums. The property is also stunning.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 October 2023

- Paige J5 contributionsA fun, relaxing, boozy afternoon excursion for couplesAlo was an amazing tour guide! She was fun and lively in a way that made the tour and mixology class top notch. We appreciated her ability to be efficient while mixing in jokes and teaching us the history of BACARDÍ. We were even able to sample a rare bottle of BACARDÍ.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 8 January 2024
- W W4 contributionsFounder's Tour is terrific for those wanting a deep dive into how rum is madeThe Founder's Tour is the most expensive tour they offer but well worth it if you are interested in a deeper dive into how rum is made and used. Like the other tours, it starts with a free welcome cocktail (or you can pay a small amount for an upgrade) and the beautiful Casa Bacardi and follows with a tram ride around the distillerary. Unlike other tours, we were able to get off the tram and experience a warehouse where rum is aged. Our tour guide was a clear expert on rum and was able to answer even the most detailed questions. The tour ended with a flight of rum ranging from the light rum used in mixed drinks to a $150/bottle rum to be enjoyed as an after dinner drink. This wasn't a mixology class, but our guide did share some mixology tips and rum pairings with us.Thanks for sharing and being part of our Founder's Experience!Written 15 January 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 January 2024

I learned so much from him. He made the tour fun and engaging. I was there in December and did the same class and tour and wish I had him then. - David GMiami, Florida11 contributionsBacardi Founder'sTour- a great experienceMy son and I visited San Juan as an end of summer father and son extended weekend. We decided early on to tour the distillery, and selected the Founder'sTour. My expectations were not high, since I have visited breweries and distilleries in the past. We were greated at the pavillion by friendly staff, and at the bar by Eduardo, who were only surpassed only by the outgoing, professional and knowledgeable guide, William. The Tour was exceptional. William not only shared an encyclopedia of knowledge, but clearly showed his love and admiration for the company. He broadened my appreciation for rum (not a big rum fan previously) and made the experience personal, bringing back many great memories of my dad and uncles, cuban born admirers of many Cuban founded companies, Bacardi among them. Thanks to William and this tour, I will enjoy rum more frequently and more often in the future. Thank you, William, for a great experience, and an even greater memory with my son.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 August 2024

I honestly feel that Casa Bacardi should charge more to have her as a tour guide because that's how good she is. Her knowledge, and engagement, with the group, was amazing. I honestly don't think the tour would be as good if it wasn't for her. I highly recommend it. I have been on distillery tours across the planet, this is by far the worst. Took the historical tour for $15 which includes a complimentary drink at end of the tour. You can pick choice out of 4 drinks, the tropical drink was delicious, but not $15 delicious. This is only economical tour offered. The tour includes a very loud vibrating open-air "bus" ride to the museum which is like 2 minute walk, but they drive you around the circle. The tour is only pictures and smelling of the distilling process. You never really see the rum. A short movie of history included. The grounds are gorgeous, but skip the tour. If you must come here, just go to the bar and spend $15 for premium drink. Clean facilities.
Online said tour is 45 minutes, but our tour can end in 30 minutes. Our entire group was bored.

Thanks for the feedback. We're disappointed to hear about your experience. It sounds like you took part in our Historical Tour. If you're interested in the distillery process, we recommend the Rum Tasting Tour or the Mixology Class. We hope you'll give us a second chance and visit again soon.

First off, to get there head to pier 2 in old San Juan. Take the ferry, it’s about $1.00 per person for the ferry and it’s just fun to do it. Get there at least 20 mins before the ferry leaves (on the hour to go from SJ there, and on the half hour to come back)
Once you get off the ferry, you can grab a cab to the Bacardi Factory
The tour sells out WAY in advance. So make sure if your going to book… you book early!
Oh, and apparently it was more fun pre-Covid. But it’s honestly a waste of time to go now.
The sign in gives you a token for a drink, extra drinks cost the same amount for a small drink as it is to buy an entire bottle of Rum in the gift shop. Seriously.
Next the tour takes you on a tram to a single room with a mural in the wall. That’s it.
That’s the whole damn tour now.
After that we went to a private room for a tasting. You get 4 x 1/2oz pours of aged rum.
That’s it. Tour over gift shop.
IMHO: skip the bogus “tour” and just goto the place. Get a drink cash. Wander around take your photos. Hit the gift shop. Leave.
We wasted half a day doing this from SJ pier2 and back again. It honestly wasn’t worth half the day, the cost or well any of it.
While our guide was nice, she kept trying to fill dead air spaces with useless games because the actual “tour” was 10 mins in the mural room, and 15 mins run tasting. So it’s a 25min “tour” to taste runs you could simply buy and do it yourself from the gift shop or your local liquor store and save a crap load of money.
I was very excited for this too. I am a spirits enthusiast; and yes I did purchase the “special aged rum you can ONLY buy at the House of Bacardi” and even more pleased I got it etched and engraved there for no extra charge. But honestly of you aren’t going to buy a $160 bottle of rum, it’s a hard pass of your on limited time.

We signed up from Casa Bacardi Bar visit. With this visit they were to provide 1 drink and 1 empanada. I wanted to sign up for the tour but they were sold out weeks in advance.
We received a confirmation email from Bacardi that day telling us that they were excited for our visit. We Ubered over to the Bacardi factory( 17 km from old san juan.) We get there and were told to leave as our experience was canceled. They said they left everyone a voicemail ( which we never received) I showed them their email confirmation from just a few hours before our arrival. I asked if we could just purchase drink and we were told that we could not do that. I asked if we could join the tour that was happening but they said no ( even tho there were extra spots) I asked to speak with the manager. He came and gave us free drink tickets but we were only aloud to choose from 3 drinks ( they had 9 drinks) and we were not aloud to upgrade. It made no sense. There was nothing to do besides drink our drink and leave. of coarse we were aloud to go to their gift shop. My husband bought a hat that was marked $7. It rang up as $10 and the cashier tried to tell me that extra was due to the tax. When I told her there was no way the tax was $3 on a $7 purchase, she said she could not adjust the price.
Overall, I do not recommend this unless you can make sure to get a tour. Not a great experience for us. I will never purchase bacardi again.

My first time in Puerto Rico & Casa Bacardí. We purchased the Rum Tasting tix online, one month in advance. From San Juan, we had to take taxi because the ferry was not functioning out of San Juan. Upon arrival, we took pics of a mural. We got in line, they scanned our tix and prior to the tour, we bought drinks! With the "bat" coins, we purchased a mixed drink of our liking and came home with plastic 8 oz. Bacardí glass. They have a snack bar where we purchase the best beef "empanadas" (estaban muy rico). We sat under the Bat pavillion, sipping on drinks, catching the brezze, even played with hoolahoops! We did the 2pm tour, starting on a trolly with the most energetic tour guide, Alondra. She educated us on the Bacardí family history, the swirling of the glass and look for the "tears". We didn't tour any of the distilleries though, we did the Rum Tasting class (room). With four glasses waiting for us! Alondra, her charismatic energy with her Reggeaton music in cell phone on hand, had us taste Añejo Cuatro, Reserva Ocho, Gran Reserva Diez, and Special one. Educated us on the bottles and history behind them. She had us all engaged, individually.. and it was quite entertaining! The chocolate at the end with the last sip of rum was tastey. This is straight rum, so prepare for the alcohol. Afterwards, they lead us to the gift shop to purchase merchandise and souvenirs. It was a fun 1 hr and 1/2 tour. If you sign up, hope you get Alonda and her spunky energy!

I visited yesterday at 4:30pm for the mixology class. The young woman was in a bad mood, she never used the microphone so was difficult to understand, she spoke quickly and with aggressive tone. My recommendation is that such an employee should not work with the public never in her life. In addition this time they didn't gave me the hard plastic cup that they used to, instead gave me a plastic disposable(because this way is more ecofriendly).

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re disappointed to hear about your experience, and that you didn't like the tour guide's approach. We take very seriously our customer's feedback and would like to receive additional information from you. We recently changed our plastic cups to a more eco-friendly version because of our commitment for sustainability. We also have similar acrylic cups at our store and online shop.
Thank you!

We booked the tour online although we saw many people just walking in for tour. The tour guide was very informative and had a great sense of humor. They give you a free souvenir glass with a free rum drink while you wait for your tour. The tour was only $15 and we thought it was worth it because it was fun. The history behind Bacardi rum was very interesting as we knew nothing about it previously

Hit this tour as an excursion after a cruise and before our flight home. Liked the grounds and the welcome pavilion. Met with fruit punch and then started the tour. Tour included what amounted to a tram ride across the grounds to a museuem about the Bacardi family and their trade. Interesting museum and really liked the history, artifacts, and guided tour. Included a brief movie about the Bacardi's start in cuba and their rise in the spirit's industry. Gift shop at the end of the tour. Enjoyed the tour and the info. Really enjoyed the mixed drinks at the end of the tour. One drink came with the tour, and you can buy additional. Great staff and excellent craft cocktails. Museum building was musty so use caution if you have issues with this. Bathrooms and food available on-site.

It was the worst experience of our vacation. We couldn’t tour anything. The line for everything were massive for a tiny drink. The empanada was the best part of it. They basically make you wait in line for tickets already purchased, wait in another long line to get your very small complimentary drink then send you off to the gift shop to spend more money. They don’t care about streamlining anything and are very unorganized. Your better off going to el Yunque, culebra or icacos snorkeling. A waste of a day to be honest.

I normally don't love tours like this, you don't get to see any actual production but they do a great job explaining the history & re creating some of the original equipment. There is an interesting experience in smelling different rum formulas. The grounds are amazing & you notice it the second you reach the gate. Your tour comes with a cocktail & a great place to enjoy it with a bay view, grass area to play games. You could really hang out & relax as long as you like, you don't feel rushed at all. There is a snack bar if needed.

The Casa Bacardi mixology tour is certainly focused on a younger crowd (20-30). I was hoping for a sophisticated tasting and learning class instead it was more focused on hip hop music and loud yelling. I did get to taste some great rum however. Cheers
