Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unfortunately a very disappointing experience
When we disembarked our cruise ship the building of the school was the first thing that caught our attention. At this time we didn’t know that it is a school and we wanted to have a quick look inside. When we entered the building we were approached by a very young man, most probably one of the students (?) who in an aggressive manner asked us if we had not read the sign on the door that there was an entry fee.
We had not even seen the little paper note he referred to and of course haven’t read it. He was very rude and accused us of deliberately having ignored it which was such an unwelcoming approach we’ve never experienced before. One must not be so disrespectful like this young chap if one wants to attract tourists and is representing an institution like this.
My husband is 71 years of age and has never encountered such a disrespectful approach.
We believe that the art of stonemasonry in the school is worth a visit but the way this guy told us to “bugger off” made this an unforgettable upsetting experience.

We booked the stonemason tour and found it extremely poor value for money. I think we paid about 35 or40 euros. The tour was all of 2 sentences from the most disinterested student ever for less than 5 minutes. We gathered zero information from this interaction. We looked around ourselves for longer. I was really disappointed and felt ripped off. I wouldn't recommend you wasting your money and would avoid. I emailed them twice to complain but there was no response. Really poor and awful experience. We had to hire a taxi especially to come here and really wish we hadn't bothered.

Attempted to visit yesterday. One of the doors was open but a sign in red warned tourists not to go in through that door. The other door was closed with no signage as regards opening times. We asked what we assumed was a local gentleman. He told us the school was on the first floor and to go up the stairs inside the open door. However we weren’t happy to do this as we felt it is a working school and tourists cannot be the main priority. We tried going on to their website and it said it was open until 3pm (this was at 1pm). An Australian couple arrived and also tried to establish times etc. The Australian man ventured up the stairs and was met by a man who told him that was not a tourist entrance but walked away when asked where the correct entrance was. I have since read a review that said times were clearly displayed and showed a photo of them… but such signs were not on display yesterday. Shame. This was somewhere I really wanted to visit.

I cannot understand the previous comment about the school being rude when the lady tried to walk in while it was shut. The notice is not as crappy bit of paper - it is large, clear and in Croatian and English. It says very clearly when the opening hours are and the charge. I assume she just doesn't like anyone saying no to her. This school is so professional - but it is a school. Of course you can't just walk in.

I was on a tour with 30 people and we had the opportunity to visit this quarry school. It educates students on 'carving' and creating with limestone. The students had a few projects they were working on. The goal is to have masons that can replicate carvings that need to be replaced in the old buildings. Limestone souvenirs are sold nearby.

A very interesting half an hour looking at how stone is carved in the old fashioned way. It is located right on the harbour front with easy access. Price is reasonable. Not sure whether or not this has to be arranged in advance as we were part of a larger group. Lots of completed stone carvings to look at.

If you are in this lively port town, take time out to visit the school. There is so much more than meets the eye.
I'll try and be brief.
To become a student here, they have to pass a test. The test is to carve a vase out of the limestone to the satisfaction of the master stonemason.
The course is 3 years minimum. They learn to carve using only the hand tools. Only after 3 years can they begin using air tools.
The items that they carve are used to decorate the town, or are used in restoration work around the town.
So much more to tell, hopefully this helps visitors appreciate this school.
I loved it, but I find this handcraft very interesting.
Hopefully the photos help tell the story.

When we reached the school, we were told by one of the school personnel there that they don't do individual tours but we could join a group tour that would take place after half and hour. The personnel also told us where we could buy tickets. So bought 2 tickets and waited at the vicinity of the school. So after half an hour, as we were about to enquire about the tour, the school personnel happened to pass in front of us and said that the tour started 15 or 20 minutes ago. We were stunned and speechless!
We managed to get a refund for the tickets but it was sad that we did not get a chance to visit the school.

We rented a car for the day and made our way to Pucisca to check out the stonemasonry school. A newly graduated student met us and for 20 kuna per person (kids were free) we were allowed to walk around and check out the school. It would have been nice to have a quick introduction with some information about the school and how they create their art work but the student was happy to answer our questions. All in all it was worth a visit if you are driving around the island.

24 kuna entrance fee allows you to see the work in progress. Cutting Equipment is heard throughout as the students are engaged in their learning. Lots of dust particles in the air, bring a mask if you have allergy issues.

Hi, we (2 Person) would like to visit the school and see students’ working. Is that possible and when? I found two different opening hours (7-15 and another 9-13, 17-21). What is the right time to see students’ in their work? We would like to come on Tue, Wed or Thursday this week. Kind regards, Minna

Are you open the entire year? Monday through Friday? Hours you are open? Price of entry? Thank you
Written 3 October 2019
I think the hours on google are accurate. I want to say we paid something nominal, like 20 kuna each.
