Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You would go to this place to visit the restored medieval castle. When you go up in the tower, you will have an absolutely beautiful spectacular view of the forests surrounding. For me, the trees are the must see of this place, especially the oaks. There is a breathtaking park with beautiful trees and hills and some sculpture that make it even more a unique experience. Take the time to sit on a bench just to listen to the wind in the leaves.

We went to this place expecting a decent castle ruine and some details around it, but it was quit a bit more.
The whole reserve is a fairly big park area containing the castle and it's nicely presented exhibitions, some stunning views, some sculptures and a whole set of supporting buildings to the castle with their exhibitions.
All of this is well maintained and the exhibitions and information signs are state of the art presentations in Latuvian, English, Russian and German.
Topping the allready nice experience is the newly (May 2019) opened "House of Peasants" on the oposite end to the castle on the compound.
The exhibition inside explains how Latvia became a country and founded. This is done with interactive displays, videos, artifacts and other state of the art visual presentation techniques.
Even the somewhat chaotic founding story of Latvia becomes understandable by it.
Well worth to spent there some time and the small additional fee!
I fully recommend this place and can not stress enough to pay the "House of Peasants" a visit.

Nice museum to wander around as the area included both outdoor attractions and inside several different types of buildings, of which the castle was one of the places included.
Paid 6€ per adult which felt slightly expensive in relation to the experience.

Sigulda is one of the most beautiful places in Latvia, Turaide is one of the must-see places, along with the Castle and the National Park. The employees of the museum territory are very pleasant and sociable (I was happy to use the remnants of my school Latvian, but there were no problems with Russian), they wear national and everyday costumes from different eras (the magical woman in a white cloak against the backdrop of the fortress was especially memorable). I was with my dog, I was not only allowed to enter the territory, but was also invited to the museum, and, of course, we walked through all the carefully restored buildings of the fortress. I try to visit Turaide every time I visit Sigulda. I really love Latvian museums for their creative presentation, and in Turaida my favorite exhibition (showcase) is a knight’s sword, half-covered by white sea sand. There is a good souvenir shop on site, where you can buy clothes and things made from real homespun and hand-dyed fabric, and the most luxurious Latvian ceramics. This is quite expensive, but at the same time very high quality things that will last for many years. In the parking lot near the park there is a small market with more common souvenirs - keychains, magnets, amber jewelry, fabric bags, local delicacies.
