Well, l could go on about Chilham and the Castle for an eternity, l schooled in the part Tudor/Victorian school in School Hill, and visited the Castle many times. You can visit this attraction during the many activities held in the grounds throughout the year ie horse evening etc. This is the better financial alternative. Chilham has played hoist to... More

We spent a Saturday night here watching the Globe theatre Shakespeare production. The grounds and house were very pleasant in the early evening sunshine and was a superb and different venue for the theatre. The castle itself is actually really small - the main building being the large country house built in 1616 (the year of Shakespeare's death). The house... More

We had hoped to visit Chilham Castle which is a beautiful Manor House dating back to Norman times and giving great views across the valley of the River Stour. Unfortunately it is now not open to the public.

Chilham Castle which in fact is tiny compared to the house and that's where the day should have finished it was a garden open day or a walk around the lawns no information about the plants it was for charity but the cost was to much for what you saw. The one bonus was the two guys on the ticket... More

Disappointed for we was looking forward to visiting the castle. But it is not open to the public, only the garden and that is only on certain days

one of life's hidden charms, well worth a visit as part of a visit to Canterbury or nearby, can see why its used for film shoots including the top gear jag shoot and many historical dramas, nice pub and church in the square.

This is the jewel in the crown of Chilham village, it looks mesmerising from the outside. When it is open it is well worth a visit.

Sadly it was a dark and chilly December's evening so it wasn't possible to view or stroll round the gardens which sound worth a visit in themselves. Would love to return during daylight - the...
