Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recommended as one of the best beaches in Clare I was so disappointed. The sand is so rough on the feet and it looks dirty. It actually felt like course sandpaper. The waves are decent but I wouldn’t be going back. I hope we can find a better one tomorrow

Fanore Beach is a lovely place for a day out. With a good car park, a lovely coffee doc and great views of the burren. The lifeguards are extremely helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I got stung by a Weaver Fish, at the time I didn't know what it was, I though it was a Jelly Fish sting. The pain was gradually getting worse so I went to the lifgaurds to see if they have any cream. They told me what it was and said the best thing was to put my foot in hot water and let it soak and draw out the poison from the Weaver bite. They were very helpful and kind to me and my foot is all better now thanks to them seeing to it straight away. I would like to say a personal thank you to the lifeguards that were on duty at that time - Cathal, Ruairi and Ewan, thank you guys for taking care of my foot!

I loved visiting Fanore. Its majestic views of the Atlantic coast and its beautiful blue waters were breathtaking. I even got my feet wet in the calm waters. The volcanic rock formations were a sign of an ancient time and the dunes were sat high above the sea. The mountain ranges off to the north were breathtaking and made you feel so very small. The world is much larger than you think from your own backyard.

Recently stayed just up the street from this beach - what a hidden gem! Sadly the weather was cloudy and cold while there but the beach was still beautiful. I look forward to visiting the area again someday and hopefully can enjoy the beach with better weather.

Located on the outskirts of the small village of Fanore, the beach is well signposted. We went in February, which meant we had the beach to ourselves for a while. There is a free car park and toilet facilities onsite, (closed out of season). Information boards tell you about the area. Access to the beach is via a boardwalk but there are great views of the beach from a well made wooden platform. The beach is sandy and bordered by dunes which are roped off as they form part of a conservation area. The beach area is beautiful, great photos can be taken. Well worth a visit.

Visiting Burren area of Ireland was really some of the most spectacular vistas ive ever seen. Visited Fanore beach doing the atlantic way. Off the beaten path, no crowds.....leave your foorprint in the sand and take pictures only, maybe leave a piece of your heart.

Wonderful clean beach marred by the fact that the management of the adjacent camp site has locked gates restricting access to a public beach.

Making a trip or a diversion here is worth every effort just for the pleasure of parking in a surfers' car park and walking down a short sandy path to the breaking waves on a proper Irish beach. If you can manage a little climb up the sand dunes you will see one of the most memorable sights in the world, with the Atlantic on one side, and the Burren behind you. This untainted and untarnished view of the ancient vast landscape will have not changed in thousands of years and this is therefore a priceless destination.

I need a clearance of 2.1 to be safe so went to pull in & took a look at the barrier height and thought no way is that for 2 metre vehicles:) maybe it’s Irish measurements anyway drove on hoping that find a pull in and park BUT No such luck.
The beach did look lovely.

Just to say that Fanore camp site is a private camp site and is very welcoming to all customers just like any private business. Access to Fanore beech and indeed access to many beeches along the Co. Clare Coastline / Wild Atlantic Way is heavily restricted by Clare County Council with walkers and cars having exclusive access. This restricts vehicles such as campervans/ cars with surf boards/kayaks, minibuses and buses and anything over 2m high - These vehicles have the capacity to carry the most passengers and they should have equal right to access public beeches. Businesses and state agencies who use mini-buses to care for the most vulnerable in our society are denied access to these beeches. Comments giving out about access would be better directed towards the Clare County council in order to stimulate a discussion about what kind of access and public services should be available to the public along the Clare section of the Wild Atlantic way.
