If you are driving yourselves then just pull over, park on the road and take the walk on the Burren. We weren't alone in doing this while we were there (several hours doing the full walk) we saw no less than ten tour buses park and let their passengers out to photograph and witness the feeling first hand. If you... More

Our group of four wanted to tour the Burren, an area of unusual geologic conditions. The thin soil and exposed limestone rock make it an area not lush like much of Ireland. Nevertheless, it is an area rich in wildflowers (at least in June) unique to the area. We contacted Mary Howard and she agreed to take us on a... More

In ODonoghues pub as a native where the Green road, find it and you will walk on the true Burren around Blackhead where the views of Aran, Galway Bay and Connemara mountains are just stunning, Follow the path for 1 hour and then this narrow path under shadow of the mountain. Keep going till the path brings you up to... More

Like a previous reviewer, I felt like the Burren was pretty massive so where do you start and what do you look at? We contacted Mary Howard because her hikes seemed more personalized. We told her we wanted to see some archeological sites and botany of the region plus get some exercise. Mary was easy to work with -- she... More

Walking in the Burren was one of the must-do's for me on my recent trip to Ireland. I chose Mary Howard's Burren Guided Walks mainly because she was the only one of three walking companies who responded to my email enquiry. How lucky was I! After three days of damp, drizzly weather, I was hoping for a fine day on... More

Mary Howard is an engaging and gifted guide with a passion to share the secrets of the Burren with her walking guests. As she spends most days in the Burren, she has a unique insight into the ever-changing flora and fauna and takes her guests to places that you would never find on your own. Our walk on a sunny... At first glance The Burren looks barren and rocky i.e. boring to most people. That is why I decided to book a guided walking tour so that we could understand what we were looking at. Our guide Mary met us by a particular section of the Burren and on that day it was particularly windy. We had just arrived from... More

This hiking guide company is the sole effort of one Mary Howard. She is really why you go to Ireland. We had booked a half-day "ramble" for Monday morning and the weather was pretty badly socked in. But she posted at the meeting spot, and after a few minutes we decided it wasn't worth it. "Tell you what," Mary said,... More
