The island to the northeast of Singapore is the only place to see an example of the traditional kampong villages that once covered the city-state. It’s a go-to spot for cyclists and hikers with miles of nature trails that weave through old rubber plantations and seaside ecosystems no longer found on the main island. Get there from Changi Point Ferry Terminal via a traditional bumboat for $2.50 a seat – captains will leave only when all seats are sold or if you pay the difference.

We were looking for things to do that a bit less touristy in Singapore and found a gem in Pulau Ubin. You get there via the MRT to Pasir Ris, and then bus or taxi to the Changi Point Ferry terminal, where you catch a bumboat to the island. Pasig Ris itself was interesting. It's a lively place and when... More

A visit to Palau Ubin is highly recommended if you want to get out and experience something different. We took an Uber from our hotel near Orchard Road (S$22 - he did get a bit lost) to the Changai Ferry Terminal. You wait for 12 people before the boat goes (no scheduled timing), which didn't take long and cost only... More

Pulau Ubin is a great escape from the city life. It has a very laid back lifestyle and there is enough to do that you can spend a whole day there. I went to check out the Ketam Bike Park and was pleasantly surprised by its difficulty. Due to the extreme heat and humidity levels though, make sure you bring... More

The boat trip across to this beautiful island was relaxing and enjoyable. The trip back into old times was amazing. Being able to hike or bike and even taxi around the historical island is fabulous. Would like to camp overnight once.

After hearing a lot about it from others, I made a trip out to Ubin Island with my family. Once there, I wondered why I didn't make this trip sooner and why I didn't visit it more often. It is a charming old island where time seems to have stood still. All the old houses are still there and we... More

What a great day away from the hustle and bustle of the city. $3 gets you on a bum boat (although you will have to wait until 12 people are waiting) to the island where you can hire bikes at very reasonable rates. The cycling is quite easy - there are a few hills - and the vegetation lush and... More

If you feel bored about busy life in Singapore, u must go to this island. It is easy to get on the ferry to Pulau Ubin in Changi village. It costs $3. Walking or biking are popular there. Renting bike there depends on the condition of bike.

It's quite easily accessible from Changi village with efficient ferry service. The small island has a rich combination of coast view and rain forest. It is also ideal for cycling, or to enjoy a breathtaking view on top of forest canopy. Many bike rentals on the island, the owner can become overwhelming, make sure to personally check your bike carefully.

Only a 10-minute bumboat ride from Singapore, Pulau Ubin was a quarry island but now a paradise to migrant birds and various hornbills. Sighting of rare birds are often circulated on the Facebook that attract serious bird watchers from the mainland to visit this beautiful island with coastal and mangrove boardwalks.
