We visited on our 1st day of touring 5 vineyards over 2 days. 2 large vineyards and 3 smaller.
The reason why we visited was we’d been buying boxes of different English wines whilst in lockdown and ever since. So instead of going abroad and carrying on with our European wine tours we thought we’d stay in the UK for the rest of the year and visit our local winemakers instead.
Woodchurch was one of the boxes we had delivered and added this to our tour.
I wish we hadn’t bothered.
English wine isn’t cheap but to support UK winemakers and UK economy we’ve felt it’s important to do our bit and so not only buy the wine but also to go and support then in person.
Our tour guide took us around the vines and not anyone from Woodchurch. Tiny amounts of wine were given to us. We thought it was a joke at first but didn’t like to say anything and thought we’d see how we got on. 4 of the tinniest measures and no tour. We were really interested in the sparkling red and asked if we could try it before we purchased any. To be told ‘oh no can’t open a bottle of that on a Thursday!’ Then he turned on his heels and took the two bottles of white he had been giving 2 other people and that was the last we saw of him.
Sometimes it doesn’t pay to support companies and this was one of those times. Out of the 5 vineyards we went to, this was the only one we didn’t purchase from whilst there. We will continue to support the others, especially the smaller ones but not the ones that can’t be bothered with us. Such a shame.

Hi Yvonne,
I’m sorry your experience at the vineyard was unsatisfactory.
Thank you for your sentiment to support local vineyards and wineries. Currently we only have 4 wines on tasting each weekend, I’m sorry you didn’t get to taste all the wines, unfortunately being a small vineyard it isn’t possible to have all the bottles open all the time.
I’m intrigued that you expected a tour, we have self-guided tours available for free and guided vineyard tours for £15 per person. It sounds like you came as part of another tour group perhaps, I’d be interested to know what was advertised to you so I could make sure we meet others expectations in future.
Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further.
Kind Regards,
Donna

I have visited many wine estates in Cape Town which have some of the best wines in the world.
This newly opened wine estate is not yet fully established but the wines are beautiful. Much nicer than the neighbouring Chapel Down wine estate which is much larger and has been around much much longer. It has more of a ‘commercial’ vibe.
The manager was so incredibly welcoming, polite and unpretentious in his approach.
We had a lovely chat and tasted 5 beautiful wines. I was quite surprised as I’m not too keen on English wines due to their dryness.
Needless to say, we walked away with a couple of bottles although we could’ve bought all of them! We will definitely be back when in the area. Looking forward to seeing this boutique wine estate blossom and get more established.
Don’t miss this up and coming wine estate. It’s always nice to buy wine from the estate rather than a supermarket.

This is an outstanding vineyard, nestled in the Kent countryside close to Ashford. It produces both sparking and still wines and all can more than hold their own against some its big estate neighbours. Both the Classic Brut and the Rosé Brut are winners, the former of a Gold medal by The Decanter magazine. The Rosé is darker than most owing to its 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 20% Chardonnay blend. The Field White and the Rosé stills are the new kids on the block, both highly drinkable and the former very distinct owing to its 60% Bacchus / 40% Chardonnay blend. Owned and managed on site by husband and wife team, this is a gorgeous lazy weekend outing. It has a fabulous terrace overlooking the vines, and offers charcuterie and/or cheese platters, Mediterranean platters and humous and mackerel pate. All superb. Highly recommended.

Have been to woodchurch vineyard a few times, always enjoyable.
Did a wreath making class last Christmas and have visited a few times in the summer with family and friends.
Lovely little vineyard which you can walk around at your own leisure, with a paper guide to read and learn as you walk around. They have a great modern tasting building over looking the vines.
We had a tasting of some new wines we were yet to try - sample sizes were generous considering it's free! Wouldn't expect anymore. We stayed for a bottle of their award winning sparkling pink which was delicious.
The owner is always friendly and welcoming and super knowledgeable. Great local vineyard and family to support! And the wines are great!

I spotted this place while out on a walk and managed to find a footpath which led to the road nearby. It’s really friendly place. I ended up stopping for a cheese platter, coffee and a tiny taste of the Pinot noir. I bought a bottle and am looking forward to cracking it open at some point. They had people on tasting tours who looked to be having s fab time and had a pizza oven on the go too (it was a Saturday). The vineyard itself is nice to walk around 15-20 minutes on the self guided walk and the leaflet they provided had some interesting info. The atmosphere was lovely, very welcoming.

I visited here with my wife and her parents visiting from Poland,it's a superb vineyard located in Woodchurch just outside of Ashford. Graham the host was very informative and explained the history of Woodchurch wines and the English wine industry very well.its a very peaceful and pleasant location to visit, the wines were very pleasant indeed. You can purchase light food , charcuterie boards to enjoy with a glass or two of wine after your tour/tasting experience overlooking the great view over the vineyard in their cellar bar area they have. I would visit here again and recommend it to friends and family

We visited Woodchurch today for a tour and tasting.
We were hosted by Graham and he took us into the vineyard first then up onto the balcony for the tasting of 4 wines.
He was a very informative and entertaining host.
It’s always good to see the vines close up and then to taste the wine whilst overlooking the vineyard where they come from.
The wines were very good and a very nice cross section of still and sparkling.
We couldn’t stay for lunch, but the food looked great.
We will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend the experience.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon! The tour was given by Graham, and was very informative and gave a good insight into the workings of the vineyard, and how the wines are made. Afterwards, we made our way to the new and very smart terrace bar, which directly overlooked the vineyard. We sampled a number of wines (each delicious). We stayed on after the tour to enjoy a lovely cheese board, and a glass of Chardonnay. Very impressed and would heartily recommend for anyone to pay a visit.

I just love this place. Stunning location and amazing building with lovely balcony overlooking the vines. We had a stroll around the grounds before coming back for a flight of wine and shared a delicious cheese board. All ingredients were delicious and so fresh. They have also started doing fresh wood fired pizza on a Saturday outside. Would highly recommend this hidden gem!

Excellent food and wine. Visited with the family for afternoon tea. Wine was lovely and the charcuterie, cheese and Mediterranean boards were very tasty. Scones for desert were the best I have had in a long time. Excellent visit all round.
