The smock mill was built about 1820 and was in full working order until 1926, surviving the Second World War intact. The Mill was at one time the only windmill in Kent to be listed as an Ancient Monument. Inside the windmill you can explore the rich and ancient history of the mill and see photos of the complete restoration, including the dismantling of the old structure and the rebuild step by step over the years. The Mill is set in a beautiful location, a good start or end to exploring the Kent countryside, close to Tenterden and Ashford with many more attractions near by. A brilliant muse for artists and photographers alike. Donations are always gratefully received to help keep the mill in working order.

I've been wanting to visit this windmill for some time, limited opening 11-5pm Sunday and bank holidays only, Easter to September. We parked outside the local church, (also worth a visit as quite photogenic), the footpath is opposite between two pubs. We walked along the path and watched a combine harvester out in the field to the right on the... More

You can climb up to the first floor and inspect the workings of the Windmill. Children (and adults), will find it interesting to be... More

Had a great time here exploring the windmill, you have to park at the pub as there's no parking on site but once done we explored the pub, that's excellent too!

Stunning mill in beautiful countryside. The mill is not difficult to find as it dominates the landscape. Parking nearby can be a small problem, but this will depend on the time of year when visited. Suggest a visit to the Six Bells in Woodchurch, where parking is usually available, then walk across the foot path which starts alongside the pub. Check... More
