Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Narzullayevs family has been specializing in this unique form of pottery for more than 100 years. Today this center is the home for the sixth generation of potters. When you visit this center you get to have a complete tour of the pottery workshop, the pottery museum and the pottery shop. In addition to this you can see and buy the Gidjuvan embroideries done under the patronage of the Narzullayevs ladies. We got an added fun musical performance by our host when one of my daughters asked about the musical instruments hanging in the center. The pottery is unlike anything seen elsewhere in Uzbekistan. The colors of the glazes are earthern. Browns, greens and blues are used in a novel manner. It is not surprising that the House of Narzullayevs is internationally famous and it's potters are invited to many foreign pottery events.

It's a living museum well worth a visit.
The family run ceramics shop uses centuries old techniques - foot powered potters wheels, wood fired kilns, locally made glazes - preserving their craft into the 21st century. Walking through the shop gives one a full appreciation of the nuances involved in ceramic making. Most of their wares are based on local designs.

I have visited the Ceramics Workshop of Narzullaev's several times and I recommend visiting it to everyone. Lovely welcome, great masters of ceramics, nice tea...
You do not even need to be accompanied by a tour guide because at the workshop they speak several languages and can show you all the process of ceramic and embroidery making.

We arrived here on the way to Lake Aidarkul, as the driver who was taking us stopped us. The staff is very friendly, a boy gave us a small guided tour in English explaining the steps in the making of ceramics and telling us the family history.
Admission is free, but the visit ends in the store (prices in dollars, quite expensive for being there) where you are expected to buy something.

We had a great visit to the workshop in early June and were really impressed by the amazing displays of pottery. We had a great demonstration of how the bowls and plates are made and painted and fired - all with traditional methods. They have a sweet donkey that they say is lazy - but he only has to turn the mill once a week and the rest of the time he is in the field. The museum also displays pottery from all regions, but the Marzullaevs focus on pottery traditional to the region - which are more browns, greens and beiges. The family also are famous for their needle work and have a womens cooperative so buying their pieces creates a livelihood for the local women. We had tea and delicous apricot seeds in their courtyard and I left with a beautiful bowl - I am delighted with it. It was a very nice experience and didn't feel pressurised into buying.

If you are in the market for ceramics or embroidery, this is the place to shop. The owners of the shops demonstrate their skills and then invite you into their worksdhops so that you can see the hours of labor put into each item that is for sale. Truly a remarkable love and labor.

The reputation of Abdullo Narzullaev is internationally renowned and he has been visited at his workshop by Hilary Clinton, Prince Charles and other world leaders but his son, I believe 4th generation is no credit. When asked how many pots he made in a day his reply was " I don't work all day" The tour was advertised as lunch with a family which indeed it was when I had visited before but now there is a purpose built dining room with western chairs and tables. We were served by Abdullo's sister who thought the task was obviously beneath her and made no attempt to offer drinks although they were available. The food was poor, rice as a salad, in the soup and accompanying the gristle meat. The museum shows magnificent and unique pieces but the ceramic for sale was vastly overpriced.
