Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

El Morro, a natural and fantastic mountain that looks like a lying camel, is close to Montecristi center. The Morro has an incredible beach with orange sand and strong waves. The views are spectacular! The vegetation in Montecristi is xerophytic in many parts, and here too, contrasting with the vast mangroves channels close by.

At your hotel, water sports centers or at the Marina, you can arrange trips by boat through the mangrooves or to the Cabra Island, or both, or even go fishing a bit. Isla Cabra is right next to El Morro, and has a beautiful small beach, where snorkeling is possible. When visiting, my family and I had the good fortune that our guide in our boat trip had many interesting and hair rising stories to tell, because he is an experienced fisherman.

For further adventure, there is the center of Montecristi, where you can find a terraza (like a big cafeteria) and cool beer. The sense of Montecristi is still that of a small country town, but there are big supermarkets, banks, stores and others.

For a cultural plus to your visit, add, the Maximo Gómez House Museum, which is in Montecristi center, with lots of historical info.

People are always going on over and over about this place. How it is imposing, how it is magical, how there is no way to visit and not be inspired by it... And they're right.

The beach and the place is very confortable for few hours. The place and Montecristi (The town) is far far away for anywhere, but is you are by the city is a place you have to go!.

Great hiking trails! Very secluded! We were the only ones on the beach. The beach is a little bit of a hike to get to so wear good shoes.

Pack a lunch and lots of water. Sandals! The beach sand was very hot. The water beautiful. There’s no lifeguard. There is shade but it’s under a cliff.

This place has it all: from great hiking/mountain biking trails to a semi-private hidden beach. There has been recent trail work here (summer 2019) that installed new fencing, as well as a couple of swings (with solid safety gear) on the summit. Fantastic views all around!

The road ends at El Morro and the beach there. There are two hikes and a beautiful beach (with the shoe rock). Hiking up El Morro is a difficult hike. We started it with our two young kids and turned around. If it had been just the two of us we would have done it, but it was steep. The other hike is goes up the other side and has a stations of the cross on it. The beach is incredible with silky soft brown sand and very swimmable. It's like no other beaches we've been too because of the cliffs and desert mountains around.
