The zoo is very poorly maintained. The elephant show is terrible, there are very few staff, and there is little information available in English. The animals appear lethargic and are not well cared for.

Khao Kheow has a lot of animals to see, including gibbons, deer, antelopes, tigers, lions, giraffes, etc. But if you wanted to see animals in the pink zone that has kangaroos, tigers, birds, and an aquarium. You will have to drive your own car or rent zoo's golf cart for 500 baht. In the blue zone, you can walk if you have enough time. I guarantee you'll be able to see all animals in no more than 3 hours. Even faster if you took a zoo's tram for 35 baht. The tram ticket last until 5pm. The zoo has an area where you can feed deers very close. There are wild monkeys that live in nearby moutain walking around, don't feed them and take a good care of your property as well. Don't leave a key at a golf cart. ***Very important, whoever come here by taxi should ask for taxi contact in case of returning from the zoo. There is no public transportation at the zoo, even grab won't pick you up. I WARNED YOU!!! I saw a group of tourist who had to paid an eye watering price to hired a stranger to get them out of there*** One more thing, the bathrooms here are Thai style. There are no toilet flush buttons. You have to fill the bowl with water and pour it into the toilet, do this twice and it'll flush. I'm so fed up with tourists who don't clean up. Also, the toilets here do not have toilet papers, you must prepare it yourself. Leave toilet paper in the trash can in the bathroom, do not flush it down the toilet, because the toilet will be clogged. Best of luck, enjoy the trip!

First of all you have to pay: as a foreigner much more than a Thai person. Why? You have to pay for the golf chart 500,— + 50,— Baht for 2 hours. You need this golf chart, because the open zoo is huge. Not so many animals to see , but a lot of nature. You have to pay to feed the different animals.. There is no restaurant in this zoo, only different snack and coffee places. The most animals look really old, like retired .. only the white rhinos have a baby and are younger.. we left this zoo with very mixed impressions..

The animals are in tiny enclosures.
Golf cart hire is a scam, only 2 hours hire which is not enough time to get around and then they fine you when you are late.

I am not going again on principle.
We do not charge a Thais more to enter London Zoo, Berlin Zoo, New York Zoo.
Yet we travel all this way to the land of smile, yes because they are overcharging us, and have to pay B 450, while a Thai pays B 100.
This is how the Thai keep the secret of what they pay – they show the Thai prices in Thai, which they know most foreigners, cannot read.
Boycott the place. Show them that racism, and overcharging by deception does not pay.

During our trip from Bangkok to Pattaya, we had the pleasure of visiting Khao Kheow Open Zoo, a hidden gem located between the two cities. We highly recommend adding this zoo to your itinerary when travelling between Bangkok and Pattaya.

The entry fee of 250 THB per adult was quite reasonable, and upon entering, we were delighted to discover the option of renting a self-driven golf cart from the Golf Cart area. For just THB 550 (plus a THB 50 insurance fee), we rented a 4-seater golf cart that added an extra element of fun and convenience to our visit. It was an enjoyable experience for the entire family.

One of the standout features of Khao Kheow Open Zoo is the wide variety of species that cannot be found in many other parts of the world or other zoos. From giant anteaters and rhinos to hippos, giraffes, ostriches, lions, tigers, bears, and even a penguin enclave, the zoo offers a remarkable opportunity to observe and appreciate these magnificent animals up close.

However, it's worth noting that the zoo lacks adequate tourist-friendly signage. All instructions and information boards are only in Thai, which can be a bit challenging for non-Thai speakers. It would greatly enhance the experience for international travellers if the zoo management could consider improving the signage by providing translations or adding multilingual information.

Despite this minor inconvenience, Khao Kheow Open Zoo remains a must-see attraction for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts. The diversity of species and the chance to witness rare animals in such close proximity is truly extraordinary.

In conclusion, we highly recommend visiting Khao Kheow Open Zoo during your trip from Bangkok to Pattaya. With its unique selection of animals, the opportunity to rent a self-driven golf cart, and the overall experience of being surrounded by nature, it offers a delightful and memorable adventure. Enhancements in terms of tourist-friendly signage would undoubtedly make the experience even better. Don't miss out on this captivating zoo experience!

If you are a tourist, I will advice you not to come here. Staff speak only Thai and all info is only Thai. I walked around for 45 minutes trying to find ticket office for golfcars or bus inside the zoo. Nobody could help.

They treat animals very bad, all 4 legs chained up. I did not think any country treated their animals like this anymore. Very sad to see.

to tell you the truth i was expecting more about this zoo.....Lets start....the zoo is BIG...you need golf cart to go around.....the location is good...about 1 hour drive from Pattaya city(50 km)to Sriracha city....have a lot of animals to see....some of them you can feed them(Elephants....deers....Hippopotamus.....Rhinocerus)...what i didnt like is that the animals look sleepy all the time!!!especially the "BIG CATS"area...and the cages ....i didnt like the style...in general the animals look NOT happy...now,someome will tell me:"How an animal look happy in a cage"...yes,of course..its normal...but i had this feeling that in this zoo are extra sad...maybe i am too sensitive about this...but this is my personal opinion...Also,what i didnt like that when i wanted to find the EXIT to the zoo(i drive a golf cart)the signs in the zoo didnt write the word "EXIT"...only the areas that you can find the animals!!!so ihad to drive long time around the areas of animals to find the sign "EXIT" !!is that too difficult for the management of the zoo to put more signs of "EXIT" in the zoo???
But as i said the zoo is BIG....have a lot of animals....good location....a lot of trees and grass....

Becareful what they charege you at the entrance, and the golf cart hire. I was charged 80 Baht to bring my car in,yet the website clearly states no charge for vehicles. I was charged an extra 50 Baht for the golf cart also. Not big money, but i hate being scammed.
