A retail store with some lovely linen and lace material but exceptionally expensive. As son as you land in Burano this is the first (and inviting) store you will see. Very strategically positioned. The individuals severed by had a poor command of English, perhaps this can improved for international visitors. Furthermore they did not understand what was needed. They are also very expensive -inflated prices as my Italian hosts informed me later so choose wisely. If you are not from the EU, then the only discount they offer is tax back. You are entitled to this any way provided you spend a particular set threshold ( 154.95 EUR, 2022 ) You will not get back 22%, after charges, 10%-11% at most.Go with someone Italian to help bargain as different prices are on offer.

Good morning, We welcome your appreciation for our products, the price of which depends precisely on the fact that they are beautiful products made well and with passion . Hardly beautiful and skillfully made is cheap. Regarding the threshold from which tax free can be applied, I remind you that this is applied according to the tax regulations of the Italian state. If it does not suit you write a review to our prime minister, currently Mario Draghi. Maybe he can give you some valuable advice. Finally, I would like to inform you that for the next few months all our staff will participate in an intensive course of the English language so that we can interact with you should you decide to visit us again. We also hope that you will also enroll in an intensive course to better learn that language that made Dante Alighieri worthy of the name of supreme poet, so that you can better interact with the people who keep the place of your vacation beautiful. We await her with a glass of prosecco in the hope that her next visit will meet your expectations.

We took a boat tour that brought us to Burano, and I'm so glad it did. I dragged my husband in the store because I wanted to see the beautiful lace. It's absolutely gorgeous by the way. Little did I know they also sold linen though. I've been on a massive hunt for quality linen pants, not the junk you find in the states. To my surprise I fell in love with a dark blue linen dress here. Sure the price was higher than I'd like to pay, but the quality is excellent. I wish I had bought the green dress, or gotten the pants without pockets!! I should have listened to the woman working there, LOL. I thought maybe I'd be able to order another dress, or pants, online and have it shipped to the states. But it doesn't appear that they sell the linen dress or much of the clothing on their website, SO SAD!!!

This was a completely awful experience. From the moment we walked in, we were hounded by two of the most aggressive salespeople I have ever encountered in my entire life. We could not even glance at something without them pulling it out and telling us how wonderful it was and why we needed to by it. They literally followed us up to all 3 floors. When we said we were going to leave they kept talking and wanted us to go to a certain lunch place so they could collect us afterwards and bring us back. We finally had to be rude and just walked away. The sad thing is that I might have purchased something if I had been left alone to browse!

Do not go here. There are plenty of other places on the island.

Dear Mrs, Thank you for your review and also for having visited our Atelier in Burano. We’re sorry you’ve been annoyed and somehow “pounced on” by our sales attendants you consider too pushy and over- attentive. However, we can’t help remarking that in our Atelier you’re not free to serve yourself as in a outlet store or a in a food market! We’re proud to offer our customers delicate laces artworks, mostly handcrafted with the same care given by our ancient counterparts. Quality deserves special attention and respect, so e.g. anyone is left alone visiting our third floor, where best artworks are displayed. We invite you to come back visiting again. We’ll be happy to treat you with our famous “risotto di go” served in our secret garden on the rear. Next time we’ re sure you’ll appreciate the difference between an authentic Italian craftwork and a piece of something different. Your sincerely Sergio Vidal, General Manager of Martina Vidal Venezia

We visited this shop in hopes to find some authentic Burano lace. The lace work quality is top notch, and there appears to be a long heritage in lace making in this family. However, we were put off by some of the most aggressive sales people we have ever seen!

The sales person would try to get us to buy things we don't want. We specifically told her that we are not interested in that item but it still ended up in our check-out process. We had to really get our point across. On the check-out, the shop owner "offered" us discount by giving us about 10% off if we pay all in cash. Now, if we go through the normal tax-free process, we'd get 12% off, so that "offer" is a rip-off. The tax-rate is actually 22% so if they accept cash without giving us a receipt, they'd have pocketed 12% that would have gone to the city government to improve infrastructure etc.

We still ended up buying over 1000 EURO worth of lace products, because the products are genuinely good, but we'd have buy more if we were able to shop at a more leisurely pace.

Dear Sir, First of all I wanted to thank you for the appreciation of our products, and for choosing and buying some of them. I'm sorry then that he did not feel comfortable with a person of our staff, and for this I offer my apologies, if he could help me to identify the clerk who helped you I could ask for explanations and make sure that it does not happen again - Regarding the discount offered for payment in cash, this has no value for tax purposes, as an invoice, receipt, or tax free bill is still issued. Cash payment is just one way to not pay bank charges related to the transaction As in Italy they are extremely high (3-5%). If you provide me with your data and the date of purchase I send you a copy of the tax document issued the day of your visit. Thank you and I hope to have you again in our atelier. Tired of the confusion of Venice, my wife and I decided to take a trip to Burano. We had lunch at black cat and after eating the best fish of our Italian vacation, we thought our day was already satisfactory. But the best was yet to come. We entered in to the atelier of Martina, and here we were greeted as if we knew for many years. As if we were old friends. The place is indescribable, scales with antique lace crystal embedded on the steps, a garden that looks like a park, household linen of high quality, with with a museum with lace of 1700, and staff ready to help you choose the best products for your house. If you go to Venice you should definitely take a trip to Burano and take a tour by Martina and the black cat.

I’ll spare the details but it’s clear they don’t like tourists. The staff was rude and inattentive. We had several expensive items in hand and were about to spend a few hundred euros when my girlfriend asked if there might be a restroom near by, and without looking up from the register the woman said, “no,” and we clarified and said, “a bathroom anywhere around? Outside the store.” Without her looking up, we got another “no.” We stood there holding our merchandise, no one asked if we needed anything, if we were being helped, and then after a few moments, a man snapped, “are you going to buy it or not?” At this point, the answer was obviously no.

Good morning, I am sorry that you claim that we do not love tourists, but you probably only wrote your review and did not read the other 100. Regarding the request for a bathroom, unfortunately for a few days it was out of service, and in any case the use of the bathroom for the activity that we exercise is only a courtesy, having no legal obligation to have one. I also remind you, given the high value of the products we sell, that we do not provide self-service. Normally, customers need their turn to be served. We are pleased to invite you to come back and visit us in a few days, when the bathrooms will be repaired, and maybe you will carry with you a little more patience. Thanks anyway for your suggestions.

burano is beautiful and in my opinion definitely a must when travelling to venice.

the colourful houses are just so pretty and lace a treat.

however i found the super pushy nature of the staff in both of the martina lace shops to be far far too pushy! which completely turned me off and soured my visit.. and we were purchasing from theur store it seemed they wanted.. practically demanded you buy more more more.

hope other folk have a better experience.

Please allow customers to simply browse your products in their own time. Your sales tactics are too aggressive and pushing customers away rather than attracting them. It’s not a calm experience entering the shop and this is coming from a customer’s perspective. I hope this feedback helps because it should be important to understand the customers’ experience.

Good morning, I am sorry that you did not have a pleasant experience visiting our atelier, and we apologize for this. Instead, I want to remind you that as you have seen the products we offer are very delicate, precious, and expensive, so every customer on his visit must be assisted by an employee. I imagine that if you enter a watch shop and want to try a Rolex, you probably don't browse through them all and then open the window and try it, but ask before doing so. We will still consider your suggestion. Our goal is to have satisfied customers. Good day

We were not sure if we would like the trip from Venice to Burano and would it be worth our time but the ride there was nice and when we got there we were in awe with the houses and how they are all painted. Such a cute little island and so easy to walk around. The people there are so friendly and so use to people taking pictures of their homes. So peaceful and quite and nice quick trip to get away from all the husle and crowds in Venice. This is a must if you have time to walk around and see these beautiful homes. The island is small not a lot to do but it is so nice to see and to have lunch when you are there as well. One of our favorite thing we did on our trip!
