Omungunda campsite

Fantastic campsite with a very friendly staff with many possibilities: the living museum, the baobab trees and a cave. Robert, a super guide, guided us during our visit to the nearby community. In addition to an earlier visit to the very friendly Himba community, we were also guided to the Zemba community. A very interesting and catchy experience. The campsite is very neat.

Surprising well done; and a happy dance party at the end

The road sign attended us to this show village, but the hima actually lived there most of the time. We took the full two-hour tour and were guided by John who spoke good English. In the beginning he explained all acts, but gradually the group became more active with a lion-attack and it ended with a whole village song and dance partt. They almost did not want to end. Afterwards several group photos. Super entertainment on recent history and actual life.

Interesting, but it looked as a performance

Himba people that you can see at this place have to be considered as actors: they do not really live there, but they dress in the morning as traditional himba.

We had a great experience with very friendly guides.
The Himbas looked like they were having fun showing us around which was great.

I got dressed up as a Himba as well, the ladies were so sweet. Absolutely recommend the Ovahimba Living museum to everyone!

Well run, clean and in great surroundings. Our family had a great time with the Himbas, one of the truly magical moments of our trip.

Super interesting

We popped in on the way back from Epupa Falls and were very happy we did.

An English speaking guide welcomed us and she offered several different programs which their prices started from 120.00ND upwards.

We spent about an hour flooding her with questions and walked around the village. They were also very happy to take photos with us at the end.

A very interesting experience.

Unmissable!

Convenient, clean, well run campsite
Jun. 2017 • Friends
This newish campsite and living Himba museum is conventinetly situated about 40 kms outside Opuwo, en route to Epupa. We found the campsite clean, well-run and very pleasant for an overnight. We did not have time to go to the museum but having chatted to the staff, we have no doubt they are running a good show.
