Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very disappointed because ski resort doesn’t provide artificial snow for skiing routes (everyday since NY is a minus temperature outside, so snow won’t be melting) and doesn’t open lifts either. For now is open only kids area, where as you can guess enormous queues near lifts and mountain is so worn down that you can see and ride on sand. Not coming back here next time.

Our family had a fantastic time skiing in Bakuriani! The slopes were perfect for all of us, and our kids loved the ski and snow experience. We loved our cozy villa with its stunning mountain views.
However, we did notice quite a few street dogs around town, which was a bit concerning. Despite this, the town was charming and everyone we met was very welcoming.
There were plenty of fun activities off the slopes too, like going on a jeep tour and horseback riding, the beautiful snowy landscape. Overall, we had a wonderful trip with many great memories.

We are greatly disappointed ,because ropeway is doing nothing to ensure skiing while there is enough snow around (((( We have changed our minds to stay for several days and are going to leave at least for Gudauri ,trying to have a little skiing. 3January 2020((((((

We were lucky it was snowing for 2 weeks prior to our arrival as winter this year was unusually snowless in December and January. Bakuriani offers different types of accommodation for every wallet and 3 major ski centres, Didvel, Kohta and Tetri. We did not get to Tetri but were impressed by the wide, not crowded and easy long blue slopes in didvel and Kohta. Kohta has much more red, blue and black slopes than Didvel.Didvel offers night skiing 5-10pm with a cafe(first stop on the mountain, not the one below at the entrance) offering snacks and full meals throughout a day. Queues were short and gondolas new. SERVICE: generally all waiters are helpful and speak English, the same some hotels/apartments of a high standard. Taxi drivers were not speaking English in 90% of cases (and you would need taxis there) so just write down from google translate what you want to say and be aware that Bakuriani centre to Didvel and Kohta is 10 lari the most, Didvel and Kohta to slopes 5 lari the most. Locals are friendly, supermarket cashiers generally speak English or happy with pantomime language and finger pointing. Lovely varied food and interesting decor in restaurants. Choose 4 star accommodation and lack of English would not be a problem. Menus in every restaurant we went had English transaltion.Service charge is included in the bill. Bakuriani centre has a small slope for children and a large park/playground with horses, amusement park, etc.
Minus:we did not see any but can imagine that some more fussy travellers could be annoyed at lack of English speaking taxi drivers/service people on gondolas, etc.
Horrible staff:
We were plainly defrauded by the Didvel ski rental ski instructor manager (there is only one ski rental by Didvel slopes). He aked for 60 lari per hour and we explained that we wanted to spend 30mi for our son who skis much better and 30 min for us to practice technique. He agreed and gave us a ski instructor, a boy who looked 16 and did not speak any language but Georgian. However, he expained all to him (Soso was his name). The boy started arguing and this manager asked us to pay for his pass 21 lari, which was ridiculous. Then he went with our son for 30 min, came back and manager told him to go with us. But instead he picked up somebody else and started teaching them! He also took 60 lari from our son who stupidly paid him in advance. When I came to complain the manager pretended that he said that 30 min were 60 lari. Georgians are very open, generous and have a sense of pride. This is the first time we saw somebody displaying, alas, a very common among certain smart alecs attitude to foreigners, whom they consider to be filthy rich. . I want to be PC and would not name a list of countries where such people flourish in abundance but usually never hold position of a manager. Georgia was never on the list as many years ago they had reputation that they rather starve but treat guests. We were not supposed to be treated but in our hotel instructor's fee was 50 lari (she was sadly away on the day) and she had her passes paid. This was such a disgusting experience which overall somehow tarred the impression of the beautiful mountains and skiing. I guess this is due to me being sentimental as highlanders with their sense of pride are seeming to fell to Mammon in a rather revolting way.

This is wild mafiotic oligarhic eastern capitalism at its worst. A mess, chaos, disrespect, careless attitudes, terrible traffic jams, polution because of all the reckless drivers of SUVs, uncontrolled snowmobiles with young uneducated careless owners and merchants with anything from horse-riding on tortured animals to shooting. And then ski. Could have been great if only there were not disorganized queues at ticket offices, lifts and restaurants, parking lots where those reckless drivers will happily block you for hours; nobody takes care of the roads, to the extent that it's impossible to manoeuvre at the parking lots. And then they will tell you they are closing lifts 45 minutes earlier because of some alcohol-filled competition and they will not let you go with your small kids on the easier slope because of those reckless guys competing in nonsense. And then? Supernoisy fireworks after midnight..... Winter Bakuriani? AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

My husband and I had the best time in Bukariani Ski resort! The place is magnificent, the mountains, the clouds, the snow, the views... plenty of eateries, loads of hotels, thrilling activities, plus several ski slopes. And everything is dirt cheap. My only problem with the place is we couldn't find even one store that sold souvenir for our kids! Oh, and also, beware that many publuc places do not have toilets!! You pay 1 Lari and open the stall door, to find a hope in the ground. Literally!! But still worth the travel!

Premace: We didn’t going skiing when we visited the mountain as we only had 2 days and the skiing looked amazing but this review is based on use just visiting
We went to the area where the main ski gondalur is located and went 2 days in a row. We usually got there about 10am and had no problem getting on to the lift but by 1130 it is busy. At the mid point of the mountain there is a great cafe to get food, coffee, hot chocolate and alcohol.
The kids played in the snow and there is a great toboggan ride which the girls couldn’t t get enough of. Kids under 10 have to go with an adult which the adult goes free. Cost was GEL10 per ride and it can pick some real pace.
After we spent time up the mountain we came down and went to the space near the Orange Cafe which has old fashioned tobogganing and tube rides. This was GEL15 for 30 minutes. While the kids are doing this you can sit outside at the Orange Cafe and have food and drink. (Refer separate review)
Orange Cafe
Great cafe with a good range (based on localton and size) fo food for kids and adults. Service was great and nice place to chill
Just next to it are toboggan and tube rides which is great for the kids and adults with or without kids can just relax
ABOUT US
We are a family of 4 who love to travel. Our girls were 7 and 11 when we traveled to Georgia and we like doing things off the beaten track
We spent 4 nights in Tbilisi and 3 nights in Borjomi to the east and near the ski fields of Bakuriani. We chose not to go skiing but we met lots of people who went skiing for the week and loved it. We intend to go back and spend the week in the snow maybe at Christmas time
Overall we loved the people, the food, the wine and what the region had to offer. After becoming independent the economy has struggled and reminds me a little of Romania. Tourism is starting to grow but customer service can be a little bit hit and miss. Don’t expect 5 star service, as we didn’t, but what you get are people who are warm helpful and very accommodating..

One of the best skying places
I recommend for beginners to have an instructor
Artur was my instructor
He trained me from a person that never skied before to a person that is able to sky by my own completely in the beginners and also intermediate skying slops in only 3 hours!!
He’s Russian speaker and you can find him next to the equipment renting shop in Kokhta Sky resort
The rate was 50 GEL per hour
The rate of equipment rental was very cheap, 20 GEL per day
I recommend to rent the equipment for the period of your stay better then staying everyday for long time waiting for your turn
The restaurant in the midway up is perfect
They have excellent mashrum soup, chicken soup

Hello!
Can someone please explain about transport from Bakuriani center to ski lifts (for example - Didveli)? Are there some ski buses between city and lifts or usual everyone just walking? And if walking, how time it takes?
Many thanks!

Hi, Bakuriani Ski Resort!
I wanted to know if you have paragliding at your resort? me and my friends (Kazakhstan) are coming end of March 2019 and wanted to have an overview of your beautiful nature on a para-plane. Is it possible? Thanks in advance!
