Roads are better and connected from kumbakonam, it will take 30 minutes by car, temple parking is available, and temple opens at 4pm, see Shiva first and then guru, multiple queues to see peacefully or do archana or do special pooja, overall the visit is peaceful and no pushing around.

Even the request for paying the charges after returning from the temple were rejected and they said we had to pay before entering the temple! They were rude and unapologetic about it.... More

Alangudi Lord Guru Bhagavan or Lord Dakshinamurthy is one of the "Navagrahas" and is referred to the planet Jupiter, and Alangudi is the "Guru Stalam" dedicated to the planet Jupiter. Thursday is an auspisious day for Lord Guru Bhagavan. Alangudi is roughly 19 kms away from Kumbakonam on Kumbakonam – Needamangalam – Mannargudi road in Tiruvarur district.
