There is no doubt that this is a lovely spot. I think the Lonely Planet description overstates its 'serenity', but it is worth a visit. Its very easy to get to without a guide (bicycle or motorbike) and the little museum is also worth a visit.

Most of the pictures of this volcanic lake are taken from the air because the circular shape of the lake is clearly visible from the air. When you arrive at the lake it is not very attractive: too many people, fruit stalls etc. We had high expectations, but were disappointed.

If you like to see habits and traditions of families go on a Sunday for pic nic. Nice and peaceful trail all around the lake and swimming with nobody around !

This has to be the most peaceful place in Cambodia. A lovely walk in the shade around a big lake. Lovely place for swimming too.

Pretty lake good for a swim plenty of little shops at the car park for snacks and drinks. It costs about 2 USD for a tourist and has some lovely forest area around. It gets busy at the weekend so to avoid the crowds try going on a weekday morning if you want quiet.

Swimming there strangely feels very safe even when you're not a good swimmer and without a lifejacket even though it's really deep (without straying too far from the jetty)

For some reason, I thought this lake was in a dormant volcano which I had to navigate up. It isnt. I visited by motorbike. There isnt any real slopes to navigate. However, entrance fee was just USD2.50. The area is kept quite clean. At the bottom of the steps which lead to the lake, there is a diving an viewing... More

Swings over the lake and little boys jumping in from the tree tops. A gentle stroll around the lake and a quick dip in the cool clear water from the wooden decking. Lush! Could do with more dustbins and more food around but otherwise a lovely way to spend a few hours.
