My parents & I visited Ightham Mote on 22 March; a cold & very wet day. My dad & I are history mad and we found the house, it's history, those of its occupants and it's modifications over the years very interesting & instructive. Throughout the visit we were greeted by one of the house volunteers who are there to... More

Lovely building and staff inside, with a very interesting history. Also, the 15-minute free taster intro was very helpful- wish this info was prominently posted on the website so I could schedule my visit accordingly. Rather, I heard all the info after I had finished seeing the house. Most rooms have placards but some don't which is a bit frustrating.... More

The introductory talk by a volunteer was one of the best presented and most informative I have ever heard. He was extremely knowledgeable and I wish I had not missed the first 10 minutes waiting outside by the sign that said introductory talk here!! It had been moved to inside the building but there was no notice to that effect.... More

Thank you for your feedback and mentioning the failure to communicate where the intro talk location had been relocated to. We will feed this back. More

My boyfriend and I went to the mote earlier today and had a really lovely morning. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful, and most of all, passionate about the house. It was in brilliant condition, with lots of original features there, and we learnt how to play billiards. We did not have enough time to do the gardens but... More

This is one of my favourite properties. It's quite small, but has many interesting features both inside and out, with different styles of rooms as the house was enlarged. The view from the bell tower is very interesting, and the small grounds are well kept. There's a typical NT cafe, and good parking available. Well worth repeated visits.

A beautiful moated house in a secluded valley that has had a variety of alterations over the centuries to create an amazing collection of rooms. The walk from the car park down to the house is a little steep, but the gardens and grounds are perfect for gentle strolls around the streams and lake. Has an interesting and different childrens... A beautiful National Trust place to visit. We had no previous knowledge of Ightham Mote but spent a very enjoyable couple of hours there. In nearly every room very knowledgeable guides were on hand to tell you more about the history and uses of the various rooms. We would like to visit again in better weather to visit the gardens.... Ightham Mote is fascinating, it is historically interesting and very beautiful, every year there are new developments in garden and house and with good walks on the estate. This year there is a wonderful Singer Sargent display, and an excellent new guide book. It's just the right size - big enough to be interesting but not daunting. The staff and... More

We visited Ightham Mote in February. We walked round the estate which was a little treacherous in places due to snow and mud. We still had a great family day out. As National Trust members we've visited Ightham Mote a few times and have never been disappointed. The food in the restaurant has always been served to a good standard... More
