Don't wast your time visiting to avoid being disappointed. The level of neglect is sickening as is the proliferation of prostitutes and drug users / pushers... Rather do yourself a favour and avoid it altogether...

It cost us R28 to get in, the water is absolutely clear and you can see the fish as clear as day. This is the largest natural spring in the Southern Hemisphere.

The place is filthy with booze bottles and litter. It's also not safe. The General area leaves one feeling vulnerable and on guard. Lots of drunk people all over the place. The people are rude and it feels like prison.

The lake/park is not kept and the entire town is strewn with plastic, bottles and other trash. Kuruman needs a good clean up.

The "Eye of Kuruman" were 20 million liters of water pushes to the surface - into a large pond - every day. Kuruman lies in one of the driest parts of South Africa - so this abundance of water is a real freak of nature....More

We thought of visiting The Eye. But on seeing the mess & vagrants around the area & the fact we did not feel safe we just gave up. It is suggested this once tourist spot be taken off the map.

We parked at Tourist Information Centre and asked at reception about The Eye. We were told we had to pay her an entrance fee and walk through the double gates opposite. On going through the gate a man charged over to us from inside the...More
