We were able to visit this gorgeous beach as part of a tour arranged from Cabarete. It is not a wide beach and it may be crowded at times. A few vendors are at this beach to sell you items. Worth to stay an 1 hour or so. The beach had a bit of seaweed due to Tropical Storm Franklin passing by a couple days before...

We had a local friend we have known for many years take us to this beach for the day. It was a lot of fun, and being able to swim in the ocean, no big waves to knock you down..lol. The service was good and food was good. I had been to this beach many years ago, but husband had not been, he loved it.

I like this beach very much, since that nice water is so emerald and aquamarine, so crystal clear. I also bought a ticket to view the jungles behind the hills, and swam there. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I was there on November 29th, 2022, - the last month. I’ll come back 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚.

Well to start with we own a condo in Sousa for 9 yrs now. We rented a truck and drove hwy 5 all along the beach road to Rio San Juan and Playa Caleton in just on the edge of the little town. Its a long road in and if you go on the weekdays you will find it very quite and the water clam and clear as a bell. You can go far out and still touch the bottom. WOW its my favorite spot now in the north coast. No one bugs you like Sosua beach to buy stuff. Just a few kids selling sweets and they are great. The homemade coconut with ginger and peanut butter candies are made with brown sugar. We bought tons of stuff for very cheap. Also got a massage from this really sweet lady. She gave the best message ever. She did myself and my husband for only 1,000 pesto. They have great food and we had fish and lobster and chicken and very cheap as well. The place is a MUST SEE. Safe and nice people. If you go , you will never forget this beach. Some people just stay on the resort and never see the country. Trust me its very safe and so beautiful ( the drive there with the mountains and flowers, unreal)
We planed on staying only for the day and got a great place to stay and stayed 3 days. Then went back to Sosua. Oh and if you go ask for Tony the waiter. He speaks great English and he will set up a table for lunch right in the sand by your chairs. They rent chair and treat you like gold. Cant wait to go back.

A really lovely spot but go midweek. It’s far too crowded and there is pumping music to spoil the tranquility. Lunch order will take at least 45 mins. 100 pesos for parking. Amazing small beach and a really lovely view. Just aim for midweek visit.

Hi,
Just got back (Feb.4th to 12th) so I'll answer my own question and tell you what I found out and experienced.
Transportation from GBP SJ.
I took a private cab from the resort with the family (4) right outside the main resort for 40$US there and back. That included Raffael with an older model van with only two working seat belts, Raffael drove well, was smooth and didn't pass in crazy locations (you will understand one you go) Raffael stayed with us basically all day until we wanted to return and he gave us a quick tour around Rio San Juan, he would have stopped any where we wanted.
I also later learned there was public transportation at the gate of the resort for much cheaper, from what I herd it was less then 5$ pp but it runs the same way as a city bus, get on get off where you want and fend for yourself.
Location & ride.
I estimate it's about 5 mins east of Rio San Juan and 15min from GBP SJ, Heading EB you would make a left down a very short and ruff trail (vehicles can pass) but there are no signs indicating Playa Caleton that I noticed. Once we turned down the ruff road I asked my self, is this the place ;| ?? and in less than a minute you can start seeing the ocean.
The Beach and atmosphere.
So we arrived nice and early at approx. 9am with my wife and 2 girls 5 & 7 and unfortunately tropical rain came down for an hour, we still made the best of it and swam for that hour. We had a private beach to ourselves until at least 11, at that time a few tours made a pit stop.(wife was relieved to see a few other ppl lol)
On the right as you arrive there's a few structures that are shacks with tarps where food and drinks can be found. We never had to go has the worker/local approaches you on the beach right away. Initially he approached and I declined service without issue mostly due to the rain.
There was a couple friendly cows that approached us on the beach, it was little weird at first but my kids loved it, immediately the friendly local beach dogs came and chased them off the beach, the local advised the dogs were good and have our backs lol.
The beach sand itself had very nice sand and the water was crystal clear. We played in the sand and found a few bottle caps and one small piece of glass, other then that the actual beach was clean. Just inside the woods like every place I've seen on the north shore had garbage and scrap in the woods.
Now that everything cleared up and the sun came out we enjoyed some local big bottle Presidente Beer (4$) and my wife and girls each and a Pina Colada inside a Pineapple (5$) tip included.
Lunch
My favourite part was the fresh local lunch that we had on the beach. The local Man brought us a second table and chairs placed them under a tree, We ordered two whole parrot fish that came with salad, rice, plantaines, The fish was crispy and the meat moist and great tasting. It a great local experience for the family.
The local man was on top of things and made sure I never ran dry from 100's of feet away I only had to look in his direction and he would yell "Beer Amigo" and he was on his way.
We were approached a few times by local people offering services, souvenirs, braiding hair or message, a simple no thank you after they made their sales pitch was enough for them to move on without issue.
Overall it was great little beach to explore and spend the day, I would definitely recommend stopping by.
Total cost of the day including transportation, food, drinks, tips and service was 86$US for the family, i didn't negotiate any prices. I just paid, enjoyed and shut up.
Cheers.

I go to Playa Caleton at least twice out of the year. Its a beach filled with natural beauties and locals. You can have a delicious and fulfilling meal for about 3 USD. My good friend Maria is one of the cooks, she will cook you whatever you want. Also, there are some local vendors that sell ice cream and popsicles for about 35 dominican pesos.

Drove to Rio San Juan from Punta Cana, which took about 5 hours. It was well worth it. Arrived in Rio San Juan at about 8:30 AM and immediately feel in love with everything I saw. It is a small town where everyone knows each other, so you get that small town feel when you are there. Playa Caleton is BEAUTIFUL and I cannot wait to go back when I am in DR in August! Sand was clean and the water was clear. Lots of locals, so you won't find yourself among many tourists like you would in Punta Cana at Bavaro Beach of Macao. You can eat here and the food/drinks are cheap.
