About
The Great Sandy Straits Marina is located in the Urangan boat Harbour at Hervey Bay. We have 176 berths and cater for 8-30m vessels. Our Marina is situated on the doorstep of the whale watch capital in Queensland and is a perfect place to visit as you explore the beautiful sheltered waters of Hervey Bay and the Great Sandy Marine Park. The Great Sandy Straits Marina overlooks the beautiful world heritage listed Fraser Island and is a warm and friendly marina well serviced by buses, with the airport located a short 10 minutes away. Our facilities include toilets, showers, laundry and designated members parking. We also have a hire car available at reasonable rates. We have commercial operators who offer a range of whale watching, fishing and adventure tours. Within the Marina precinct there are restaurants, cafes, a souvenir shop and the Hervey Bay Boat Club is just a five minute walk away. The Break Free Great Sandy Straits Resort and The Mantra Resort both overlook the Marina and harbour precinct. Make this your next port of call.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We particularly enjoyed visiting the Boat Club. We could walk to their venue from Breakfree Sandy Straits. They welcome visitors after you sign in. There is a great cinema there as well as boating opportunities, outdoor seating by the harbour, and lots of choices for dinner. Often, there's live entertainments

Well maintained marina. Plenty of dining options in the vicinity. Friendly and helpful marina staff. Good waste disposal facilities. Amenities are accessed by security key (Bluetooth on phone) so no shared with general public. Shower stalls are large

We have been at the marina for 4 weeks and could not speak more highly of them. The management Deb and Bob go out of their way to help you regardless of what you ask. We were on H22 a big berth on the T end and as we came in there were staff there to help us with the ropes.
The other good thing about this marina is the restaurants and shops in the complex which are great for a longer stays. We will be going back next year.

Visited on Saturday 25th February. I was staying nearby and went to check out the marina. It was well set out and maintained to a good standard. It is also the starting point for day trips to Frazer Island by boat.

This marina holds about 180 boats but that's just the start of it. There are all the facilities you would ever want, there are restaurants shops, tour operators, motels and the Boat Club that now has 2 boutique cinemas. If your here for whale watching this is the place to be. There is a nice drive or walk to the St Peters memorial for lost seamen.

Just a wonderful place to sit and watch and relax. The marina is not large but the shops are good, the staff helpful and a convenient pick up spot for tours.

This is a large marina with the usual array of 'rich boy toys'' and the usual shops and cafes and some accommodation such as mantra. Pleasant enough for a walk but nothing special.

We stopped in and had a quick look around the Great Sandy Straights Marina when we were recently in Hervey Bay. Nice marina, a few shops around. Nice place to spend an hour or so looking around. Nice photo opportunities of the marina and also of a whale sculpture at the marina also.

The tour operators work off different parts of this overal marina, so the tour I did on Pacific Foundation was based in this end.
I also dined at the sensational Cafe Balaena, making this visit a very memorable one

Visited on Friday 7th August. Stopped by to have a look at the marina, not a lot to see unless you are heading out on a whale watching tour.

Parking is not a problem, there is a large, free, public car park, short distance to walk.
