- Rochelle FRandolph, New Jersey1,240 contributionsWow- the rocks are really remarkableAnother must do in Flinders Chase National Park when on Kangaroo island. The rocks are enormous and colorful. We walked the path and then climbed up a bit. This can be challenging if you don't walk well. Great photo ops too.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- Teresa NMedowie, Australia1,432 contributionsTruely RemarkableThis place is aptly named as the rocks are truly remarkable. Located in the Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island, this is a place not to be missed. Mother Nature has, yet again, worked her magic as the rocks have been carved out by the weather. The area is accessed via a boardwalk from the car park and is only a short walk. It is such a fun place to visit as you can climb onto the main rock, then walk around, in between or even on top of the rocks. The surrounding views are also amazing.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2024
- Michelle REngadine, Australia399 contributionsREMARKABLE ROCKThis was an amazing sight. There is a very large car park which is good as it gets very busy. A boardwalk takes you to some toilets then on to the rock which is amazing. The rocks are huge and it is just amazing how these rocks have formed all the different shapes and colours over the years. It definitely is worth a visit.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 July 2024
- Deborah MSydney, Australia8 contributionsNature at its bestGetting around KI takes longer than you expect but it is worth the 90 minute drive to see the Remarkable Rocks and the adjacent Admirals Arch. Expect to spend 75-90 minutes there. Both sites are well organised and an easy walk. We saw dozens of seals at the arch and you can walk around the rocks.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 July 2024
- The Walking CriticPerth, Australia1,136 contributionsRemarkable Rocks - Add this to your must-see list.Despite the corny name, Remarkable Rocks are actually just that. It is like someone has just purposely dropped them on the edge of a cliff and walked away, as they don't simply stand out in their surroundings like a sore thumb....which is what makes them remarkable. It is absolutely worth a visit to see them. Parking is very easy and there is only a short walk from the car. A winding metal walkway takes you to the base of the rocks and then it is up to you how much further you want to clamber up and explore. This is a site for all ages and energies. If you do have the inclination to climb up, do so. The views and shapes are as described: remarkable.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 July 2024
- Kelly SAdelaide, Australia369 contributionsStunningI visited the remarkable rocks as part of a very long day in the Flinders Chase National Park. This is an absolutely stunning piece of Kangaroo Island and I recommend everyone visit if you are on the island. There is an excellent boardwalk that would allow wheelchairs to be easily navigated. It is a very smooth and even walk to the rocks. Those able can climb onto the rocks - I did this and it was amazing to get up to these wonders. Highly recommended.Visited October 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 October 2024

Be sure to buy your park pass at the visitor centre before going in. It’s a lovely visitor centre with a cafe and toiletsVisited January 2025Travelled with familyWritten 21 January 2025

The day I visted Flinders Cahse National Park, the weather was wet & windy. After being unable to get to Admirals Arch due to the wind, I proceeeded to Remarkable Rocks, whch was protected from the Wind. Flinders Chase as a whole is still on the long road of recovery from the Bush Fires. Boardwalks and visitor facilites are being replaced, rebuilt and improved constantly. The Rocks themselves are remarkable.

I love this place. Such big rocks perched high up above the sea level and the way they have been scoured into the most amazing shapes. You really need to see it, photos just cannot do it justice. Remarkable Rocks together with Admirals Arch are two of the distinguishing features of Kangaroo Island.

The Remarkable Rocks in the Flinders Chase National Park really are worth the effort to visit. Shaped by wind and rain over the eons, the shapes are really amazing. Very photogenic and great to pose with. Perched on the top of the cliff, the view up and down the coast line are breathtaking. Parks SA are to be commended on the facilities and infrastructure they have provided throughout the park.

These rocks really are, well, remarkable. Very unusual shapes sculpted by nature and the great part is to our surprise you’re allowed to walk on them and take photos to your hearts content. We were fortunate to have the whole place to ourselves for a short while and it’s a really stunning setting. The walkway from the carpark looks to have been re-laid fairly recently so a raised ramp now runs from the carpark to right in front of the rocks.

Beautiful rock formations in Flinders Chase NP. These rocks have some great colours and shapes. Take some time to wander around and really look at the rocks. Please DO NOT let your kids (or adults) climb the rocks. Easy access from the car park area but going onto the rocks is not suitable for prams/ wheelchairs (yes, we saw someone try to take a pram onto the rock, OMG). The boardwalk is accessible though. It's windy there so be careful not to get too close to the edge and obey safety signs...no photo is worth your life or an injury! We saw people doing silly things. Let's keep these rocks in good condition for others to enjoy!!

We had a fantastic time walking around the rocks and looking at the views out to sea. So many great photo options. They are still constructing the boardwalk to the rocks after the fires but the dirt path was easy walking. Nice new composting toilets were open though.

Best thing on the island. You really need to visit to understand the serenity and harmony created by the shapes and contours of these rocks. I found the experience unexpectedly spiritual. Very humbling to be walking around these natural and utterly beautiful giants.

Deep inside Flinders Chase National Park lies a lovely formation of rocks. Great drive and nice walk to the wonders of Remarkable Rock. Superb scenario and backdrop. Be sure to bring a jumper as it can get cold and windy. At the time there is constructions of a board walk. Still worth visiting along with Admirals Arch which is a few minutes drive.

You have to be careful as you climb up to get the best view of these weather eroded rocks. The shapes are spectacular with no two being anywhere alike. Flinders Chase is quite a distance from the two main settlements. The roads are unsealed and rather rough, but worth traversing to see these awesome (and that's the correct word) rocks.

This place is located in Flinders Chase National Park. The most beautiful Rocks ever seen in my life. One of the best view I've seen. It is very windy make sure to wear something comfortable and not easy blown by the wind. Put some sunscreen because There are so many beautiful places to visit in Flinders chase and all involve walking and direct exposure to sun. No shops or toilet close by. I sat under the shade of the rock while overlooking the sea, oh my.. it was one of the best time I had.

Hi!
I would like to reach the Admiral Arch and the Remarkable Rock but I can't find where the parking area is.
How can I get there?
Thank you!

Hi would you indicate if there is a pickup point of tour operators near the hotel? if so can you recommend some tour operators to Milford Sound and Wanaka
Written 15 August 2015
If you are wanting pick up in Milford Sound, then you certainly won’t be seeing the Remarkable Rocks - as they are on Kangaroo Island, South Australia not South Island of New Zealand.
