Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you're wanting to go for a nice stroll in the park whilst your children can have fun at an exciting playground, then Aotea Lagoon is the option for you. Went here not long ago and enjoyed it so much. The fun splash pad was also a very fun activity. 10/10.

I love visiting Aotea Lagoon, great place to do a walk around the lagoon for some exercise, they even have exercise machine/activites dotted around the place.
I specially love the duck pond, and always bring some bread with me to feed the ducks. The kids love it!
The Children's Playground is also great fun for all ages..
Lots of grass and tables around to have picnics on a nice day.. :)

Very nice. Had two Grandies with us so this was a great place for them to let off steam. Plenty of play equipment and running areas. Nice garden area. All in all an asset to the area

This place is beautiful especially in the evening in Summer. I always walk around the lagoon maybe do 6 laps and it's great how they have exercising machines around the lagoon walking track. Also they have a few areas for family BBQ's which is free to use and they have a massive playground for kids and a lovely and beautiful garden!! Some people get married at the garden as it's so beautiful! Highly recommend this place for everybody!!

We live not too far from the lagoon and on a great day, there is something for everyone at the lagoon. From walking or running or cycling or scootering around the lagoon, to the exercise areas or BBQ areas. From the kids playground (which is big and has lots of things to do) to the Rose Garden. Remote control boats or feeding the ducks. Music in the park in Summer to the Train that runs around the lagoon every Sunday from 12pm till 4pm. Now even with Pokemon Go locations.
Can easily spend an hour or two here and ample parking outside of along the street.

The quality of the Lagoon water is a bit of a let down but that aside the space offers a nice walk, a great playground and on Sunday’s between 1pm and 4pm miniature train rides. A great free space.

I recommend going early to ensure you get a good spot as this place can get very busy! However I'm sure wherever you set base, you're guaranteed to have a good day with your friends and family. Be sure to take plenty of food, sunscreen, water, towels and your togs. I promise your at the end of your day your kids will be ready for a big rest haha!

Better than expected and ending up staying for hours. Well kept and very attractive gardens, lots of room to walk, bike, scooter and walk dogs (on leash), people using the exercise stations around the lagoon, Splash Park (enjoyable to watch the water playing even when not hot enough to actually frolic in it), good safe children's playground, petanque terrain, plentiful picnic areas, shade from trees, picnic tables and free barbecues provided, signs explained bread is not good for the ducks and offered alternative suggestions so people were feeding them oats and veggies, it was all lovely.

My husband and I stopped here last night on our way home. It was dark so couldn't really see the water in the lagoon (I have heard its not great) but after walking all around we were really surprised- seems like a great place to take the family, especially when the little train is running. Going to come back in summer with our son for a picnic and a train ride. Also liked all the exercise equipment which seems handy.

The playground is fantastic. The train goes every Sunday in summer (not sure about the rest of the year). There are ducks to feed in the lagoon. All around the lagoon are exercise stations and the track is metered and marked, great for a spot of jogging. Parents can run and exercise while the kids follow in bikes or scooters. There are also some barbecues that are free to use. On a good summer day, you can easily spend the whole day at Aotea Lagoon.
