As other reviews have suggested, this is not an easy place to get to. A 4WD is necessary to explore Kolsai Lakes National Park but you do also need to get up and hike too. The lower lake has more people and more development and it is a long hike to the upper lake. But its absolutely warth it for the views, the tranquility and the connection to nature.

Rough trail

Getting to this lake can be rough. It's not a super lengthy trek, but the trail isn't an easy one. It doubles as a horse trail in many parts, which makes it very messy. After a hard rain, it becomes extremely muddy with huge divots from horse hooves. It is steep in several areas with a small patch of rock scrambling. It is definitely worth the adventure, but make sure you have ample water, snacks, walking sticks, proper footwear, and definitely pack your raincoat. It rains almost every day, often with hail.

Long monotonous walk in the forest between the two lakes

The walk to the second lake is long and tedious. The indication of km and time is incorrect (red sign). But the show is magnificent!
The 1st lake is very touristy and will certainly further lose its character, given all the construction in progress. What a shame!
Also note that in Saty, everything is expensive and there is no ATM. So plan ahead.
