Decent wine tasting and set in a cool building close to Te Mata Peak. Staff member was very friendly and made the experience. Well worth a stop in to visit!

Te Mata's sole focus is fine wine-making. There's no restaurant or accommodation here, only a small Cellar Door with tastings available. It's open daily over summer, and Wednesday to Saturday in Winter. Appointments are preferred.
The distinctive Coleraine House opposite the winery is private property and the home of the Buck family - the winery's owners. We try and leave them in peace and quiet. Te Mata Estate grows it’s own fruit, and ferments and bottles It’s own wine entirely on site – it’s a 'one stop shop' of wine production. Independent and New Zealand family-owned, it’s like visiting a small factory. Established in 1896, the winery and vineyards were the first in New Zealand to be protected under conservation law as a wine-making heritage site - the 'Te Mata Special Character Zone'.
Five of Te Mata's Showcase wines are listed as 'Five Star’ and ‘Super Classic' in Michael Cooper's Buyer's Guide to New Zealand Wine. The winery has been awarded Robert Parker's highest classification 'Oustanding Producer, Five Stars'. Te Mata Estate wines are available in 45 countries.
