Well Worth the Long Drive from Skagway; Worthy of Dedicating at least a Half Day Visit

We visited the Yukon Transportation Museum during a one-day port call in Skagway on a cruise ship, and it was well worth the time and effort of driving all that way. It’s a good idea to contact the museum ahead of time to ensure it’ll be open, but well worth that tiny effort — they opened the museum for us... More

My wife and I stopped in and were impressed with the differentexamples of local history. When we went into the hangar we met Murray, one of their staff, who is a wealth of knowledge about the items there as well as the area.Make this a stop along your way and be sure to ask for Murray.

We recently held my parent's 50th anniversary party at the Yukon Transportation Museum. The staff were extremely responsive, helpful, and accommodating. The venue oozes character - such neat artifacts...so many great photo ops! Our 70 guests fit comfortably and there was still plenty of room for dancing. The kids loved it, especially the old train car! If you're looking to... More

This is a great little museum, with historic photos and artifacts. Nice gallery with a train car you can go inside and historic storefronts. Knowledgable and passionate interpreter in the hangar. And the cool DC3 weathervane outside! Nice gift shop.

My girlfriend and I came here after we visited the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre and it was $12 for both admissions. We easily spent an hour here with Murray, an older gentlemen who really knows his stuff! He is incredibly knowledgeable and knows the Whitehorse community really well. I was quite surprised on how much Whitehorse went through. It is... More

We visited the transport museum while filling in some time in Whitehorse. Given it is low season there were few visitors so we were assigned our own guide. He was very knowledgeable, having first hand experience relating to many of the exhibits. We felt a little rude as we had limited time to experience the stories. Probably best for couples,... More

Such a great museum...a must-stop if you are visiting Whitehorse. Very well laid out with lots to see and learn. The staff was wonderful and able to answer questions. Really great for anyone and everyone! When visiting, don't miss all the extra displays out doors and in the quonset outside.

It was a very cool place to see the transition of transportation in the Yukon. From dog sleds for the RCMP, to tractors, to trucks toting canoes, there is something for everyone. Great place to learn about how people got around in the Yukon. This is also home to the worlds largest weather vane, which sits outside in front of... More
