Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was mid November and I walked the street here in the afternoon. It seems like it would be nice in the summer with patios etc. At the time most places seemed closed, or shuttered, perhaps due to the pandemic. It would be picturesque if everything was open and the weather was nice, hence the 4.

Most people would enter the Old Town along Grande Allee Est. It does have a fair number of restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the Saint Louis Gate. Walking further west will lead you to the Plains of Abraham. There are some nice houses even beyond that point.

Grande Allee is a long road with different names. It is a great road to walk along as it offers so much, depending on the time of the visit. After crossing the St Louis Gate you will find yourself on Grande Allee. There are events taking place at special times of the year. There are some great restaurants, and some famous buildings and other sights to admire.

This review is for the section of the Grande Allée, between avenue Cartier and the Saint-Louis Gate at the entrance to Old Quebéc. Avenue Cartier also features many restaurants . It is a must see when visiting Québec City. In this section there is an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and microbreweries, many if not most with outdoor patios. There ae cheap eats to finer dining. Other attractions are nearby, including the Plains of Abraham and the Parliament Building. Our hotel was on this section and we also went past here on the tour bus.

Walk, drive or take the bus to see this street. Each part of this famous street has a different style, some part of it has huge, elegant old houses ( a must to see), then century-old stone houses, the Plains of Abraham it is also located in a part of the street. If you keep going part of it will be surrounded by bars and restaurants, some spots will host festivals, and to finish, the street will end in the upper old town. FREE!

Pretty interesting street with quite a few restaurants and bars. Thought some of the street decorations were cool and likely better at night.

This is an interesting street that turns into rue St. Louis once it enters the old walled city. Once one walks through the gate, one feels as if one had walked into France.

We had a nice dinner on the Grande Allee. It is a hugely busy street--very big with the younger set. A real hang-out for teenagers and young adults. Restaurants abound but are expensive and parking is at a premium.

We walked along the Grande Allee in May and it was quite pleasant. I loved venturing outside of the walled city to see the architecture and the pace of the city. You can learn a lot from people-watching so that is what we did. Simply my fave part of the trip!

If you are staying in old town and get tired of the more tourist-centric restaurants, there is an area of the Grand Allee that is just a short walk from the St. Louis Gate that has a great selection of restaurants (didn't notice if there were any shops). We had breakfast at Cosmos and dinner at L'Atelier. It is definitely a more happening scene with a bunch of hipper restaurants (set in a very appealing block of buildings which I would call "brownstones" because of the style).
