This is no longer a seminary but I loved the design, even though I was unable to enter the buildings. It is such a classic and must have educated many Jesuit priests, the intellectuals of the Catholic - universal - Church.

When visiting Quebec City, one must enter into the interior backyard of this building to see the purity of the architectural lines and take some pictures. We can feel the calm and imagine the students in the backyard centuries ago. Great for photography and relaxation. Very unique in North America and well worth a 5 minutes stop. I have not... More

We were in Quebec on "shore leave" from a cruise ship. We had been to the Montmorency Falls and rode back into town on a city transit bus (#800). We got off the bus near the Citadel and worked our way down hill. Following our visit to Notre Dame Basilica, we walked over to this former seminary (now a college... More

Open the gates and take a look at the Inside court of this historic building sitting next to the Québec Cathedral. It seems to have there forever...one of the first great buildings of the old city

Enjoyed the tour of this sprawling campus. Orginally a Jesuit school for priest that converted into Catholic boy's school/college after English took over town. There has been an English (protestant)/French (Catholic) tension for centuries. This is located a few feet from Funicular in upper town. Remember you can get a significant discount (20%) if you but tickets to Museum of... More

On Sainte Famille Street, you will find the impressive buildings of the Séminaire du Québec. Fonded in 1663 by Mgr de Laval to train priests for nearly 300 years, it is now devoting its efforts to the education of youngsters. Please note that the Seminaire provides a parking lot for $9.00/day which is very convenient and cheap for Québec City.
