Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you like quality, variety and exotic food, this is the place. We loved the patê and cheese sections. Of course the beer and wine selection is excelent. You must know the first grocer founded.

If you are wondering the streets of QC take the time to visit this one of a kind store. Such a trip back in time - not your typical grocery store. I was traveling back to the USA the next day so I did not have the opportunity to purchase anything to sample in my hotel room. I will make this spot Day 1 when I return to QC. Just pop in and take a few minutes to visit every corner of the store. You may find a special item you have been looking for.

Loved exploring this historic grocery store which was in the neighborhood where I stayed while in Quebec. The store has a variety of sweets, prepared foods, produce, beer & wine, desserts and staples. Really fun place to visit and explore!

This is a wonderful B&B with interesting history, a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast. Clement was a considerate host that made our stay in Quebec city more enjoyable!

This store is located about 5 minutes walk out of old Quebec and is a wonderful shop to pick up gifts. There is lots of locally made products. You will have to pack in your main luggage if you are flying so keep that in mine if you are getting anything that will make a mess.

The oldest grocery store in North America! Absolutely a must-see!
The store is historically preserved, meaning the interior design is vintage and they sell some novelty items. They have a small bakery with cafe seating. They sell fresh produce, Canadian food staples, as well as imported foods from around the world, especially France.
A great place to buy souvenirs/gifts—they have a table of assorted maple treats from local farms/shops (maple syrup, maple candies, maple chocolates, etc.).
Additionally, you can find French gourmet cheeses, foie gras, unique spices, and even ready-to-eat sandwiches if you’re on-the-go or for a cute picnic.
I guarantee you will enjoy browsing the aisles and will have a hard time not filling up your shopping basket!

This shop has all kinds of specialty grocery items displayed in a number of small rooms. If you are looking for an uncommon ingredient, you are likely to find it here. I found black garlic paste today. If it weren’t for weight restrictions when flying, I could easily bought more.
The main floor could be navigated in a standard wheelchair, I think. Several of the display areas are up a few stairs. I didn’t ask but there are enough people working there that I expect one of them would find what you are looking for and bring it to you.

Really cute store that is quite big once you weave your way through the maze. It was a two minute walk from where we were staying, so we were able to quickly grab food here to go. They don't have the biggest selection but you can definitely get forgotten items here.

So much to see, smell and enjoy. If JA Moisan does not have the treat that you are looking for, perhaps it does not exist.
Room after room provides a huge selection of items to tempt your taste buds.
We chose a few varieties of cheese and enjoyed them very much with a baguette from the bakery.
The staff is friendly and the selections amazing.

What a charming & totally cute épicerie!
The oldest in N America i think. Takes you back in time & make you travel in so many countries while wandering & getting lost in there.
Must visit while in Quebec!!! Great for souvenirs, gifts, food items or your daily needs.
Super friendly staff as well!

Bonjour. I will be returning to Quebec City in two weeks to do a self-tour (walking tour) both within the fortification walls and outside of them. I love the St-Jean-Baptiste quartier -- which is how I stumbled upon your wonderful epicerie: J.A. Moisan. For this coming trip, I would like to spend more time in your store browsing so that I don't feel rushed and leave with only the purchase of a tote bag. I love preserves, wine, cheese and nuts. So ... May I ask your hours during the week, as I will be arriving late at night on a Sunday and then planning to walk distances beginning on Monday morning?
I am hoping that your store is open early in case it closes by 6 p.m., at which time I'll be having supper in town or at the hotel (one hotel in la Basse-Ville, the other hotel in l'Haute-Ville). I will be in Quebec City for five full days, so this time I don't want to miss the chance to purchase some delicious foods and wine from your epicerie. And I just might buy another J.A. Moisan tote bag, as I have worn out the one that I purchased in 2015.
Thank you for your time, and I am looking forward to reading your reply as well as the responses of past visitors. I think that there is time for me to receive replies before my trip begins. Merci encore. (Or is it "Encore merci.")
