Nice view of the lower city
Sep. 2021
The Old Quebec funiculaire is one way of travelling between the upper and lower towns. At $3.75 per person for a 2 minute trip, some have said the price is steeper than the actual hill. On our weekday visit in September there was no lineup and only one other couple riding with us. My watch and phone showed that we had walked over 30,000 steps that day, so taking the funiculaire back up was a welcome relief.

Very handy to avoid numerous stairs
Sep. 2021
This joins the park around the Frontenac Hotel to the Petit Champlain area of Quebec City. I am not very mobile so was able to avoid using most the stairs by using the Funiculaire.

Great view but very rude attendant
Sep. 2021
We enjoyed a nice dinner in lower Quebec City and decided to take the funicular back to the Upper City where our hotel was. A bit pricy for 3 of us but we thought the view would be worth it. After paying we got in line and a family ahead of us had a school age child ( age 10 or 11 by appearance) who was not wearing a mask ( even though required). We politely told the attendant we wanted to wait for the next tram as we weren’t comfortable in a small enclosed space with an unmasked person. We are vaccinated but I am immunocomprised and a physician and very careful and school, age children are not vaccinated and certainly can spread Covid. . The attendant ( a stout fellow with receding hairline and glasses if management is reading this) was very rude to us, said we were being “dicks” and proceeded to ridicule us in front of other people in line. He asked why we were travelling if we were afraid ?! We were shocked but didn’t respond to his rudeness even though it was embarrassing. Perhaps he should have spent his time asking the family ahead of us to follow the rules rather than being rude to paying customers who were following the rules and being cautious. To top it off he then told others in line not to get in the tram with us but that was ok as we then had a nice private ride with great views

Great view when looking back at the lower city...

$3.75 seemed steep for a two minute ride up but after walking all day long we were ready at any price. The view is really spectacular...

Very Practical Way of Getting Up and Down the Hill. Kids love it, too.
Aug. 2021
The funicular is an inclined railway conveniently located to connect the upper Old City with the lower Old City.

Up and Down to Quartier Petit Champlain
Aug. 2021
For $3.75 you get a "ride" from the upper Quebec City area to Quartier Petit Champlain near the river. Do take this - it's fun and a good way to see the city.

It's not just a ride, it's history.

A very convenient way to get up and down into old Quebec. It opens right in the heart of Le Petit Champlain.

A few dollars for a fun experience and great view!
Aug. 2020
For all the times we have visiting Old Quebec, this was our first time riding the Old Quebec Funicular.

It was a fun experience that even my partner, who is afraid of heights, enjoyed.

It is a quick way between the upper and lower old city, and offers a good view too.
