Allow a little bit of time to purchase your tickets up on the main quay before descending to the pontoon. The knowledgeable volunteers who run this attraction are keen, and they impart considerable information during the tour, which moors up alongside Atwater Market long enough for you to walk in and have a meal. Watching the lock gates open and... More

You have to wait for staff to return from tour in order to purchase tickets. The ride doesn't cover much. There are other more appealing rides in the area to be enjoyed. But it you want something short and available this may work. The guide speaks in both French and English. They also offer a few drinks for purchase before... More

We took a private cruise from the Old Port on the Lachine Canal to the Atwater Market to show our friends, all Ex-Montrealers living all over the world, how this area of our city has changed. Besides the beautiful vistas we also got served by an extremely efficient and friendly crew and got to know all kinds of historical and... More

I took this tour option in order to discover more about the Lachine canal. I have been living in Montreal since 2009 and I work in the Old Port where I usually take a walk after lunch up to the first 2 locks passed by the boat. Although I have seen a couple of times how the locks work, but... More

We went on a private evening cruise with Le Petite Navire for a team event. The crew was super helpful beforehand to find a caterer to deliver some food and made sure to communicate very well so we knew what to expect. The captain and crew were super nice and friendly during the cruise and the boat itself is small... More

We took the 45 minutes tour in the old harbour and really enjoyed it. It is a small, electric, boat. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. I was surprised the boat was only half full, given how many tourists were ashore and how nice thus was. Highly recommended.

We were a family of five and we did the old port tour. We all had fun, from 9 years to 44 years. The guide/captain was good and informative. The only thing I can find wrong was that the loudspeaker was not good enough but the captain made sure everybody heard by going back and forth in the boat.

The crew was friendly and informative. The boat was lean and very nice. Bring some cash...they sell wiling and beer on board. Really nice way to see Montréal!

We did 2 trips with Le Petit Navire -- the Saturday evening fireworks cruise, and a Sunday trip on the Lachine Canal. There are many options for the fireworks cruise, but this was definitely the way to go for us, as the tour is 1 1/2 hours (vs. 3-4 for others). The Lachine Canal tour was fascinating -- with opening... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
