Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sun Life building when completed in 1933 was the largest building in the British Empire. In 1940 the basement was transformed to house the securities of the British Government. Sent overseas at great risk and placed under constant guard, much of Britain's wealth was secretly kept there. It is considered one of the nicest building in the city. We haven't been inside so I cannot comment on interior but the architecture and the history is amazing.

A beautiful building with lots of history. You can still come here and hear the chime music when sitting outside near the park. It used to be the offices of Sunlife however now the HO has moved to Toronto. A building worth a special trip because it’s imposing with its many columns and sitting across a beautiful square.

Today, it is Head Offices to National Bank's Private Banking Arm Levesque Beaubien. My Bmo Branch was there until they foreclosed on my 5 houses..lol.. so I went there often. Dominion Square on which it sits , has to the North the Tourist Info office (maps and stuff) and I think that Gtrey Line tours leaves there. On the side street right across, is Metropolitan News, a Newstand that has newspapers from across the world.

Whilst visiting Montreal my husband insisted that we visited here due to its history, especially with what was stored here from the UK in World War 2. One of those buildings that you could walk past every day, but when you know its history, and the role it played in the war makes you go wow

Tourists going at the Tourist Information Center of Montreal may not be aware of the FREE sights that are available to them right beside where they are located ! Naturally the Montreal Cathedral with its free access , the Dorchester Square open to the public , the Place du Canada with its historical statues are quite appealing but right beside the Tourist Office is the Sun Life Building which was the biggest building of the Commonwealth when it was completed in 1933 and remained the biggest one in Canada until the mid 50's . Lots of history behind this building ! The beautiful lobby is accessible to the public and is definitely worth a look !

This building is huge. Not only on the height but on the width too. If you walking on Boulevard René you will see it across the street from Cathedral of Marie-Reine-Du-Monde. Worth a quick stop.

Right in the heart of downtown Montreal facing Dorcherster Square where the Tourist Information Centre is located. This wedding cake looking building is one of the most beautiful buildings both inside and out. If you are around at 17h00 listen to the chimes being played at peak hour...

The plaque said that when in opened in the 30s, this building was the largest in the British Empire. It is huge, takes up one side of Dorchester Square. It is very grand outside and in.
