We walked through Mont Royal on our way back to downtown from Saint Joseph's Oratory. Yes, that's a bit of a long walk, but we like to walk. The parts of the park along the roads are nice, but it really gets better as you get closer to the chalet. The chalet itself isn't really much (just a big room,... More

At the summit of Mont Royal Park is the "Chalet du Mont Royal" built in 1923. It is an event space open year round with bathrooms and snacks. There ia a large terrace that leads down to the overlook from where on can see the best view of Montreal. You cannot drive all the way up - you must park... More

I was there in the evening and it seems it's the best view you can have on Montreal. The city, the lights, great photos, are all there. But dress well, it might get really cold in the evening!

Legs were burning. Air was fresh. The view at the top was my reward. Breathtaking! Good for cardio! I was in excellent company. Maybe not so safe on a snowy day...

Long walk up the Mont Royal on a snowy day. But it's lovely to see. Quick way to pass time on a slow or relaxed day. I walked in the snow and I was extremely warm by the time I arrived at the top. It's definitely worth the trip!

This is now my favorite park ever. Raw beauty. Make a path or follow the 3 already paved ones. If you are a nature lover you will absolutely love walking through this park!

I had some time during a recent trip so I took the time to hike up Mont Royal. I'm so glad I did. The scenic overlook at the top made the trip completely worthwhile. Beautiful view of Montreal and surrounding area. If you have the time, I highly recommend it. Be warned, if you move off the main path that... More

Staying in Parc du Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc du Mont-Royal
Montreal was named for this hilly highland, where the tallest spot in the city overlooks its most extensive parkland. The greenspace of Parc du Mont-Royal is an outdoorsman's dream, with hiking trails and nature walks that cater to every season and level of athlete. In the winter, cross-country skiers, tobogganers, and ice skaters don their equipment by Beaver Lake and its pavilion, while the warmer months bring families and competitors to the pitches of Jeanne-Mance Park for tennis, soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, or a dip in the community pool. A perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic, the forest foliage is dotted with sculpture art and offers views of some of Mont-Royal's oldest edifices, the towering St. Joseph's Oratory and the mausoleums of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. Home to musical celebrations and twilight snowshoeing alike, visit here to walk, write, rest, think, or just be.
