Mont Royal is a must when visiting Montreal. Early April when I arrived, there was still snow. Fresh air and a nice walk. I recommend good walking shoes. You could also have a long run through the park. Hills can be a challenge though... But it's worth all the effort !

While the climb could be an effort of on foot, this site is worth a stop to see the beauty of this city. The history os the cross is very interesting, you might want to read it because going. One was in wood and one was in steel. The story speaks of the culture of Montreal at the time

My boyfriend and I went up mont royal on a Sunday, it was the perfect day for it as it was cloudy and not too hot. We took the stairs and I think it took us about half an hour to the top. The terrain is gravel and the stairs are concrete. It really is a lovely view at the... More

Excellent for jogging, hiking, biking, picnics, with a nice look out at Montreal and the st. Lawrence river. There is also a cafe at the look out.

This is one place to find yourself in peace and quite above the city of Montreal. Its fortunately a place I get the chance to drive over, and stop for walks or just lay up against a tree and soak in the rays during the summer months, walk in a meter of leaves that light everything up like fire naturally.... Staying in Parc du Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc du Mont-Royal
Montreal was named for this hilly highland, where the tallest spot in the city overlooks its most extensive parkland. The greenspace of Parc du Mont-Royal is an outdoorsman's dream, with hiking trails and nature walks that cater to every season and level of athlete. In the winter, cross-country skiers, tobogganers, and ice skaters don their equipment by Beaver Lake and its pavilion, while the warmer months bring families and competitors to the pitches of Jeanne-Mance Park for tennis, soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, or a dip in the community pool. A perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic, the forest foliage is dotted with sculpture art and offers views of some of Mont-Royal's oldest edifices, the towering St. Joseph's Oratory and the mausoleums of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. Home to musical celebrations and twilight snowshoeing alike, visit here to walk, write, rest, think, or just be.
