A MUST go to musical jam where hundreds of people gather every Sunday rain or shine from spring until autumn. Bring your percussion instruments or just enjoy dancing the beats. Travel into a hippie dippy like trance where all ages and types sway in unison. Located at the foot of Mont Royal on Park Avenue literally at the bronze monument... More

We had a lovely Sunday walk to the top of Mont Royal in the snow, along Chemin Olmsted. Soup and tea at Mason Smith at the top was wonderful, warming before heading down. Great thing to do in the snow.

Even in the middle of winter, knee deep in snow, this a great park to hike through. Trudge up to the Mont Royal Pavilion to thaw out and dry clothes on the expansive heaters. Stunning views across Montreal are an added plus, if it's not snowing. Bring a bag of peanuts in their shells to give to the particularly cute... More

We spent an afternoon at Mont Royal but would have happily stayed all day. We trudged in the snow to Chalet du Mont-Royal which is a beautiful historic building with amazing views over the city. Closer to Beaver Lake, there was snow tubing or families could bring their own sleds and sled down the many slopes. Ice skating by Le... More

A great way to spend a summers day in Montreal. The sights and sounds on la belle ville. Bring a blanket and take a load off.

I visited in December. It was nice to get away from the city. If your driving there are many pay-for parking lots. I saw bus shelters so I think the local buses travel along the mountain route as well. Great place to take photos and it was very peaceful. No entry fee or admission.

Mount Royal park is just in the middle of the Island of Montreal and is a calm haven to take refuge in, whenever you want to escape from the city, being IN the city. It has I believe the highest spot in the city, around 250 m. There is the George-Cartier monument, a lookout chalet and the Beaver lake, nice... More

Staying in Parc du Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc du Mont-Royal
Montreal was named for this hilly highland, where the tallest spot in the city overlooks its most extensive parkland. The greenspace of Parc du Mont-Royal is an outdoorsman's dream, with hiking trails and nature walks that cater to every season and level of athlete. In the winter, cross-country skiers, tobogganers, and ice skaters don their equipment by Beaver Lake and its pavilion, while the warmer months bring families and competitors to the pitches of Jeanne-Mance Park for tennis, soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, or a dip in the community pool. A perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic, the forest foliage is dotted with sculpture art and offers views of some of Mont-Royal's oldest edifices, the towering St. Joseph's Oratory and the mausoleums of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. Home to musical celebrations and twilight snowshoeing alike, visit here to walk, write, rest, think, or just be.
