Neighbourhood: Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.

Peaceful and amazing walk to go through this marvellous exhibit. One sees various arrangements of trees, lamps and flowers. Highly recommended.

Good in the daytime or the nigihttime

We were fortunate to have a day when the weather was excellent. One could spend the entire day or just an hour or two. Probably there is more to see in the summer months, but we were happy with what we saw and it gave us an opportunity to walk and enjoy the outdoors. A couple of days prior to our visit we discovered there was a special evening event of Chinese Lanterns and after we toured that event we also went over much of the parts we visited earlier in the day. Beautiful place. People of all ages and sizes, likely from many countries as well.

The Chinese and Japanese Gardens are part of the Botanical Garden. The gardens were decked out for the lantern lighting in late October; unfortunately it was pouring rain the night of our tickets, so we did not go back for the lanterns. I'm sure the gardens are more impressive in spring and summer.

Very much worth a visit. We loved the beautiful autumn colors, and I am sure the garden is pleasant in any season.

Only for people who have not visited a Japanese garden
Sep. 2019
The garden is peaceful and quiet but pales in comparison with Japanese gardens found in other cities. If you have never been to a Japanese garden, you might revel in its tranquility, but otherwise this is not an attraction you specifically come to Montreal to experience.

A Lovely Place to Spend a Quiet Afternoon
Oct. 2019
One of the theme gardens at the Montreal Botanical Gardens. We so enjoyed the bonsai exhibit, the amazing architectural elements, bridges, water features, gardens. It's so peaceful - you forget you are in a major city!

The gardens are a must see. They are so beautiful and so very well kept up. The place is full of authentic plants and traditions of Japanese Gardens. Do not miss this.
