Currently, without any renovation, this beautiful garden is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the view. Of the gem of the garden, you can really feel you are in Japan at times.

It is a besautiful laid out garden and is very representative of gardens seen in Japan. Exquisite. Look for the evening light festivals during certain times of the year.

beautiful and quiet place to relax and rejuvenate. Occasional tea service in the summertime (check schedule). May is particularly beautiful for the cherry blossoms and summer time also when the have the Chinese fishes in the pond. beautiful place to take pictures too.

It is nice but only a small part of the Botanical gardens. The Japanese Garden is nice but on the small side.

The end of October was the perfect time to visit the Montreal Botanical Gardens and particulary the Japanese Gardens. The colors appeared to be painted on, and the fountains and pools reflected the color with gracious beauty.

There were not many exhibits like the Chinese Garden. This was a very brief tour. We were a little disappointed after having visited the expansive Chinese gardens.

Experience the tea ceremony with real Japanese, see the arrangement of the rocks and sand, bamboo sticks as well as plants. Better to go early in the day, when no screaming kids are around...

Visiting the Japanese garden is best in Summer when the gentle breeze blows over the former golf course. In winter, see the Bonsai collection inside the Botanical gardens. Personally, when winter becomes unbearable, I find it best to spend a few hours in this otherworldly...More

This is part of the botanical gardens and is truly a quiet retreat in the center of the city. Montreal will be celebrating its 375 anniversary next year and many of the sites in town are under renovation and the botanical gardens. There is still...More

We have a six hour layover from 12 - 6 during the day (a Tuesday) in July, on our way back to Winnipeg. Is it even possible to get to the gardens just for a break during this time?

It's possible but you will need a good taxi driver and light traffic! Even then it will be a bit of a rush.why not head to Ste Anne devBellevue and have a bite by the locks and watch the boats go by?
