From the misleading name - Ocean Train - and misleading promo lit, through the useless Viarail app (no WiFi in the stations?) and ancient, decrepit sleeping cabin, to the unprofessional dining car staff and grim food offer, this was an utter waste of time and...More

We rode the Ocean VIA train from Saint Foy (near Quebec City) to Halifax. Beautiful trip through the woods and farms of eastern Canada. The sleeping car room was nice & larger than Amtrak’s economy bedroom. It had many features not found in Amtrak rooms....More

The previous reviews diverge into people who loved the Ocean Train and those that hated it. We took the train from Montreal to Halifax in late April and loved it. The favourable reviews have captured the experience well and ours was similar. The train left...More

We built our trips to Ottawa & Halifax with "The Ocean" as the centerpiece. It did not disappoint! We love overnight train travel. VIA Rail's sleeper service includes access to the 'Park' observation and lounge car and full-service meals in the dining car; for the...More

I took the train from Halifax to Montreal in June. Took Sleeper Plus class. Very nice and clean compartment with a bed noticeably larger than those on Amtrak sleepers. Full toilet in the compartment. Plenty of cabinets for storage, etc. Window very clean to watch...More
