This watering hole has been drawing jazz fans since it first opened in 1951. Admittedly the decor hasn't changed much since the old days, but the sounds you'll find here are cutting edge. The Rex lures top local and international talent; Tuesday is the weekly jam night.

We visited Toronto for few days and, as always, we looked for live music venues where we could listen jazz and/or blues. This place was a very pleasant surprise, mainly, particularly considering the very good quality of the music. We attended the afternoon blues concert...More

We have been to the Rex a number of times for Saturday afternoon jazz. What a great time. Big band, small stage - the singer is literally standing in the entrance, which is sometimes a shock to people arriving. Great music. Very enthusiastic crowd. Good...More

Our first visit but won't be our last. Enjoyed the friendly vibe, good bar menu, no cover, and a terrific big band with vocalists. It's a huge space but the back room has low visibility to the front stage. We took a table around a...More

Jazz like jazz is meant to be. I am fed up with these clubs where they charge you twenty bucks for a " sitting" from 08:15 till 09:45 and kick you out before ten, to be ready for the next sitting. New York clubs i...More
