I was looking forward to seeing this ballet and though visually gorgeous and with some very effective music, the choreography was a real let down.It felt very "50's TV" dancing. Insubstantial with lots of mediocre leaping about and running around that we've all seen a...More

Went to see the Nutcracker, a beautiful performance, the orchestra was magnificent, I enjoyed the entire performance. A great evening, a must-do activity in Toronto, no matter which ballet you see.

Though many may feel that ballet and opera are elitist and of no interest, how can you argue with an art form that has survived for a hundred or two hundred years? The National Ballet of Canada is a national treasure and something that everyone...More

Several of us went to see their performance of the Nutcracker. It was absolutely magical, and our seats were quite comfortable. The only downside is the cost.. it can be quite prohibitive.

The building is grand and impressive as befits its title. We saw the Nutcracker. Pretty good show but cramped, inaccessible seating detract from the experience. My nut was cracked by the end of it.

I am glad I saw the Nutcracker as it is a Christmas classic. I knew it was ballet and I wouldn't love it, however some constructive criticism for you: 1. Staff were very snobby and not good with customer service. For example, Usher dropped my...More

The set was wonderful. The dancers gave their best. The costumes were superb. So why disappointed? It seems the Political Correctness Police have taken over the artistic direction of the National Ballet. One of the most enjoyable dances is the Oriental Dance which was excised...More

I'm wondering about the seating.. Best affordable seats would be where? I think it's called Ring 5, but what area up there? I'd hate to be behind a pillar or something!

Hopefully you don't suffer from vertigo, as anyone who does would not be able to tolerate the height of Ring 5. Otherwise you will have a clear view from anywhere you sit except that it will be from a great height.

Hello. My friends and I will be attending The Nutcracker in December (7pm, Friday night show). We are wondering what the dress code is - for both men and women. I'm assuming suits for the men and either a cocktail or semi-formal dress for the women... but we want to make sure.

You would be the dressed best people there. When I went a few years ago, everyone was quite casually dressed.
