When we went there it was nothing worth seeing. There was some preparation for Chinese cultural festival, but there was nothing to do or to see. We ended up on the nearby playground.

There were a lot of people on a Wednesday night and some idiot in a green shirt was running around preaching non sense at the crowd, but we're not going to let him ruin this experience. Nathan Phillips Square is where the big TORONTO sign lights up. If you go before dark, they have snacks or drinks in the square.... More

Nathan Phillips Square is really a mixed bag as a travel destination. It hosts many great events, and in those cases can be well worth checking out. You can also go skating here in the winter, and that's a really fun activity. Other than that it's a little bit boring, and if there's nothing going on is maybe worth 10... More

Nice area to walk around, close to Yonge-Dudas area, and very cool to take pictures in the big Toronto sign. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Always a great place to visit and take a minute to take Toronto in. Whether it be winter with the skating rink, or the summer with the views, it's a great place to pause and take some pictures. Love the Toronto sign!

This is just an interesting place to walk through in Toronto - don't get too excited if you aren't wowed like some people!

Great area surrounded by beautiful buildings to take pictures. Stopped here quickly on a cold day but found it to be a nice spot to see!

A great place for photography, day or night. Love the Toronto sign. Fountain wasn't working, guess it's too early in the year yet.

We stumbled across here whilst exploring the city, and watched the skaters for a little while. A nice square with a lovely atmosphere.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
