Neighbourhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

- Stewarts Vacation1,535 contributionsVery large indoor shopping complexMost shopping centres are the same - multiple shops, multiple levels (or not), maybe a cinema complex, a food court and washrooms. This centre has it all! We tend to avoid spending too much time in them! What drew us into this centre was to see the Canada Geese in flight sculpture. It's an impressive sight with 60 life-size Canada geese suspended below the glass roof. The centre is easily accessible and links to the PATH.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 December 2023
- Cggrimm07Blackburn, United Kingdom279 contributionsHuge shopping centreEaton centre is a massive shopping mall, with hundreds of shops and a huge food court which smells amazing with food from kfc to ramen. Our visit was close to Xmas and the decorations and tree were very good. We shopped for a few hours and eat ramen and shawarma both were very tasty for a food court. It was earlier in the day when we visited so it was quiet to start with but quickly got busy. Well worth a visit we managed to get some bargains in the sales.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 January 2024
- PhilipWhitby, Canada50 contributionsEaton Centre, you make scaffolding look good!An after-work experience. I had popped into Eaton Centre late night just before closing, and wow it has been a long time. Nostalgic memories from young when our family would venture down here during the summer months before going to Lakeshore Park to enjoy picnics we'd always stop in to do some last-minute shopping and throughout the years, I would frequent the Joey's here. Now I'm here and looking for Roots to pick up a few hoodies for my Fiance's nephew. Firstly, Eaton Centre seems to have started a facelift which did not hinder my experience at all, thanks to the clear signage, and engaging anecdotes displayed along the way. My mission was to go to Roots and visible signage placed on the scaffolding. It drove me around to see what the facelift was about. On that stroll, out of simple curiosity, I see how many businesses are here thriving and still humming. Workers/store employees don't look depressed, customers who belong here appear to be here and the occasional rif raf but that is expected in this part of Toronto. The attention to detail and the thought process for me are very impressive. As a programmer, everything is in the details. Details matter when you want convenience. I am so impressed I managed to take a few pictures. The scaffolding and help in marketing the team at CF must be tirelessly keeping up with demands from the business I can imagine is endless but it is appreciated in the results. This is impressive. Clear, concise. Even on the eve of Chinese New Year. The decor was eye catching, everyone is taking pictures, and might I say, unique it is. Very "luxue" and I shared the pic with my fiance who said we are bringing her brother's kids down this weekend. Yorkdale, Eaton Centre (i.e Oxford and CF) really know what they are doing. Good job, an accolade well deserved.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 31 January 2024

- vegetarian-girlAustin, Texas543 contributionsGreat for a rainy or cold dayMy husband & I enjoyed walking around this very crowded & clean mall. Much to see & buy, meet up with family & friends, & walk for exercise when cold/rainy. We didn’t stay long because there is much more that we wanted to see in the downtown area.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2024
- 8abugColona, Illinois188 contributionsNot an Ordinary MallAlmost did not go. It was an enjoyable surprise. This mall is very busy especially compared to my hometown mall which is almost dead. I did not see any empty stores. Spent three hours until we ran out of steam. Definitely would recommend because it is different than any other mall.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 23 May 2024
- paul-delawareMiddletown, Delaware890 contributionsStill going (and growing) strongAs a Western New York native - and regular visitor to Toronto - I knew the Eaton Centre as a classy and happening mall. Decades later, it is still going strong, even as malls are in serious decline. Busy, interesting and lots of unique (and high-end) stores.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 June 2024
- Xamot TomaxFort Wayne, Indiana7,473 contributionsStill a great shopping mallThis is a large, multi leveled, indoor shopping mall. It consists of several floors, making up for 200 stores. On the first level is food court. There are dozens of restaurants to choose from. If you’re coming by subway, Queen and Dundas stations will get you fairly close to the Eaton Center.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 June 2024

- The Cornish Hack304 contributionsBetter than YorkdaleI recommend this over the soulless Yorkdale mall. Whereas the latter is row upon row of expensive designer clothes shops with few distractions, Eaton has enough small shops, food retailers etc to make it interesting. Because it's central it's easy to pop out of as well if you want to leave a partner to do their shopping and meet up again later. The food court is also impressive with a wide range of outlets selling reasonably priced fare.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2024

The Eaton center is located connected to 2 TTC train stations. Overall layout is great. 3 floors of retail and food.
Not enough elevators though. Especially since most of the elevators are used for one of the parking garages. and its difficult to go to parking thru stairs.
Huge issue during rush hours for people with wheel chairs and families with kids in strollers.
Positive is that in one of the garages, they have Tesla super chargers and other electric car chargers too. Parking is a bit expensive though. It's a pain sometimes cuz people with regular cars park in the tesla changing spots.
During lunch time there is hardly any parking to be found in both garages.
Well managed and clean mall. It has everything.

You can still see those 'flying Canadian geese' as the decoration inside this mall with the sunroof and stuff. I first saw them when I was kid and it hasn't changed for many many years. Its old name was Eaton Center, by the way.

This well known shopping gallery has been around a very long time, and its seen its share of lean times, down time, and has weathered those.times well. You have to give it to them....they recreate themselves regularly, expertly, and effectively. It's still as vital, useful, and as pleasant a place to spend time as ever. The soaring height of the glass roof, its vaulted spaces, the way its organized (elegant shops ground floor, food courts down low out of the paths to keep noise minimal, and less expensive stores in between) and the cleanliness of all spaces point to a management company that knows its stuff.

I had some solo time to kill while my daughter attended a dance program in Toronto. I realized that the Eaton was within walking distance and spent an afternoon there. It was quite crowded since it was just after Boxing Day and a lot of the stores were having sales. There’s a terrific selection of stores and the food court area is large with tons of options. Will definitely return with my teen daughter on our next trip to Toronto.

It’s a huge mall with every kind of store you could ever want. Crazy easy to get to by transit. It’s central to the downtown core so it’s walkable from a lot of other attractions. However, it’s a zoo on weekends and the WORST near Christmas. Don’t even think about trying to drive there unless you want to spend 30 mins trying to find a $50 parking spot

Despite the amount of building work being done at the Queen Street end, this mall is still worth visiting. A large variety of shops to browse and the centre is clean and well maintained.
Direct links to the subway station and to the PATH underground walkway, Eaton Centre is an easy place to get to. My biggest disappointment was the closure of the Duke of Richmond pub on the outside of the centre near the old city hall.

Very beautiful mall. Although it is very overwhelming and stuffy, it has a great selection of stores.
Big issue with parking though, almost impossible to park here without dropping over 20 bucks just to walk around a mall!!

Years ago it was a great place to shop as all the stores were highly visible and easy to find. For some years now it has accumulated a lot of small shopping stops in the open areas and it has become difficult to navigate and find the stores one is seeking. Also, the display boards of the stores' locations have become computerized and the stores' locations are very difficult to find and identify.

Are you allowed to bring your dog?
Written 11 December 2018
Guide dogs are allowed but I'm not sure about other dogs. It's a very busy place and their leash would be an issue - among other things. The Place Ville Marie has 60 stores, the Eaton Center has 250 and it is busier than the PVM. Leave the dog at home/hotel.

Hello,
you are asking for the present temperature for the shopping mall?!
It is always the same and little to cold for me.
As winter is harsh in the Toronto I believe they are enjoying nice warm temperature down there.
I was visiting in the summer and for me it was long sleeves as temperature was too cold in comparison with outside (but I can say the same for all other places in Toronto).
kind regards
Tonko

Does anyone know what make up brands are in this shopping centre or in Canada in general what make up shops there are!?
Written 13 January 2016
Typically in Canada, we have around the same things as the United States (Maybelline, Covergirl, Sephora, Mac, etc.) However, in the Eaton Centre, I believe there is Mac, Sephora, The Body Shop, Proactive, The Face Shop and some others as well. You can also visit their website to see more stores located in the Eaton Centre as well.
