We used to go to this place in the 80's and it was a respectable pub on the Danforth HOWEVER that is no longer the case. We went here recently as part of a pub crawl (this was the dive bar on the list) and it was worse than terrible. They had a good selection of draft beer but they... More

I can't say enough about the owner and bartender. We were giving priority service, never had to wait for drinks, and were treated like royalty for the duration of the evening. A group of 8-10 of us stopped in after a concert across the street; we never left! Local music/jam session was so much fun. I would definitely go back!!!

This is a great old school tavern where you can have a fine pint of Guiness and take in a Euro-football match or any sporting event of your liking!!! It's a place where old timers and newbies get together - never any problems in my 25 years of being a regular here on my business trips!! Oh yeh, did I... More

Did a crawl of a few place during the taste of the Danforth. Real beers, real friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

The Black Swan has bars on two levels. I last went on a Monday night for "Acoustic Monday" where anyone can show up and perform. The bar's acoustics are good, and beer prices even better.

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
